Ok let say this bright, buff friend of mine decides to tighten some 10mm bolts d own on his bike only to sheer them off....What is the best process to reverse this damage? Drill the bolt completly out and go one size bigger on the tap?

Lets say this same friend was replacing spark plugs.....Trying to get the first out out it sheer off tooo :x  all the way down. U can look down the cyl. and see the little electrode on the end and then the carbon covered piston and one of the exhaust studs is broken off........what are my options here? Re-build head, take head off and tap the thread? I"m kinda worried about the head being soft alum. :x I guess my best of all options might be to just buy another motor. I've seen 3 of them on e-bay and I'm sure some "junkyard" motorcycle dealers around here might have one sitting around....here's what it look's like down the cyl.

Moral of this long very very sad story- dude you put antisease on the exhaust threads not some sort of JB weld, u only need a tinny wennie amount of threadlocker on 10mm bolts, and there really isn't much holding a big powerful engine in the frame :?

re: the spark plug - if it's an aluminum head on the motor, it needs to be helicoiled which can be done without removing the head. It might cost you $100 if you take it somewhere.

If I get it helicoiled will the little filings and bits go down into the cylinder? I think either way the head has to come off now...

I believe there  is a way to remove whatever filings fall into the engine, but I'm not sure. If you google for instructions it should tell you. If you want to try and fix it yourself I believe the heli coil kits are about $20 and inclde everything you need minus a drill

Your friend buys you a new bike, and he can fix this ... he can ask us for help and we'll tell him.
BTW ... sparkplug's broken off in the head ... I havve had some luck getting a needle nose plier down in there and using that bend part to grip and turn it out ... and you also can try easy out ... all the crap that falls in ... stick a turkey baster and fill it with oil, and suck it out with a large diameter hose and a brake fluid pump ... preferably one that is electrically powered ... should get most crap out ... yea and fill and suck like 100 times ...

ok, you can try pulling the valve cover and seal , get an easyout/extractor to fit the plug, lay some ICE around the spark plug hole for about an hour, keep the ice as fresh as posible.  then try to back out the threads,  if it doesn budge, use a propane torch on a med flame and heat the head around the threads NOT THE TREADS THEMSELVES.  alum expands and contracts more then steel with hot and cold. the idea is to get the alum to break the grip of the threads. DONT USE OXY/ACE   (cutting tourches) unless you really know what your doing as it gets WAY too hot.
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.

You can try the reverse drill bits. When my freind broke the plug head on his car we used a reverse drill bit and slowly drilled the plug in the middle. As more tension was created the plug started to screw itself out.

for metal shavings you can get one of those magnetic tip antennas and try to collect as much metal shavings as you can.

well after 2hours of sugerical drilling and a can of penetrating lube I extracted the spark plug and saved the head :)...but ya Had to take the head off anyways didn't want to take chances something might "drop" down in there...Then I hit another suprise...Exhaust valve #3 is almost new....or has no carbon build up...That explains why my clearances are at the tightest tolerances.....This was a true what you see is what you might get....

Then I painted the frame...advice for future people...*pops 8advil*.....pay someone to get the frame diped or sandblasted....It would look so much better

Yes it's a metalic blue frame. The bike is going tol have a marble effect textured fairing...Wonderful MACO made a deal of my lifetime...They went to a Dupont seminar on new techniques...I said try it on my fairing [they can't possibley hurt it in any way shape or form]. I saw the Right side and it looks GREAT. Imagine a marble type of pattern but being bright cherry red and white.

it might look like this by next week [if I get the motor painted this week and the coveres polished....I need more coffee

Another tip go buy some Bike Bandit stock I'm 100% sure it will go up
