Don't they make something to move the pegs forward, rather than back?

I know Harley people do that crap all the time...  There's gotta be something like that for GSs.
I'm not sure where one would mount highway pegs on the F.

Slippery tires, check. Brakes sucky, check. Responsible son, check.  ;) Plus, I'll be riding right behind him.  :thumb:

That would make it infinitely more likely that I'd take the afternoon off.

Davipu had highway pegs mounted on his GS, if I recall correctly. I'd imagine you can stick them at the front of the frame where the engine mounts. Where you'd normally mount case guards, for example. Oh.... on the F model.

Hmmm. F model... crap. Maybe I should read all the way through first. E models are easy. F models. I'll have to look into that.

It was only one sentence...how hard was it to read to the end?  :nana:

Dave's highway pegs are on the crash bars.  No worky on an F.  But putting the seating position farther back is already an improvement, and I ordered smaller pegs to replace the big clunky ones.  We'll see how those work out.

Yes, there's definitely something going around!  You wouldn't want your coworkers to catch it!

Yeah, it's called "New Bike-itis"... and my boss knows I have it.  :(

I wasn't talking about HW pegs...  I was talking about moving the controls...  Similar to rear sets, but moving forward rather than back.

No fixie '92?

Something I noticed about your bike is that it had the same vacuum inversion that I saw on my bike when I synched the carburetors last time.
What I saw was when I revved the motor up to 5000rpms the vacuum would drop on the No. 1 cylinder, when it got to 6000rpm it would balance again.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Going to sell the '92 to my sig. other's son. He knows a lot about bikes, and he'll be able to do all the work himself. His wife will ride the ol' boy...er...the '92.

I still have the ratbike that I'm working on slowwwwwly...piece by piece....dollar by dollar.  :thumb: ;)

I wonder what I could get in trade for mine...there's a 2002 SV650S at the dealer up the street for $5600...

Ja, the pegs I'm getting will move my feet down a bit... I can see how I could relocate them forward, but I'll wait and see if I need to.

Little more detail?

2005-GS500-PDX, test-ride the SVS.  Lovely bike.

2005-GS500-PDX, test-ride the SVS.  Lovely bike.

I would love to. A few problems:
1) I doubt the dudes at Procaliber will let me test ride it.
2) It's been raining for a week and will continue for probably another week.
3) I would probably get very little for the GS. But I have modded the rear section in such a fashion (integrated tail light, complete fender removal, etc) that they may put a higher value on it.

If I could trade the GS and get the SVS for little or no difference between what I owe now ($5K) and what I would pay for the SV ($5600) I would be in there like swimwear. Wanna come help a brother out, RG?

Unfortunately, they're likely just going to look in the book and give you NADA tradein... aka nada for tradein.   :P  :(

Then again - I'm back on a GS, not an SV.  It's all for the best.  :)

Is that in Canadian dollars?  $5600 for a 2002 is WAY overpriced.  If you're set on buying it, make sure to talk them down considerably.

Roadstergal

Oh, duh.  Ja, that's way too much in USD.  I paid $4200 for my 2k mile '01 SVS last year.

I guess you're right:

         Low Retail         Average Retail
Base Price
      $2,845         $3,740
 TOTAL PRICE         $2,845           $3,740

I didn't even think about it. Granted it's not stock, but still, there are not $3K worth of aftermarket parts on it.

We are smart.

I've seen '03 SVS models go on eBay for $4000. You can get a naked 1st gen SV for around $3000 used from a private party if you look hard enough.
