What is this?  and don't be vague it has a specific name. Props to anyone who can tell me what it means too...

It's a piece of Native American beaded (lesbian, 'cause it's purple :lol: ) belt. What it means is, since it's only a piece, it can no longer function as a belt.  :dunno:

it is Native American beading...pretty significant too been used for hundreds of years, but that doesn't really answer what it is.

Those are the beads that the Dutch traders secured New Amsterdam (now NYC) with. They're an early blueprint of Rockefeller Center,  you can see the "footprint" of some of the buildings and where the Christmas tree (Festivus tree for the PC folks) is to be placed! (Sorry, I can't resist levity on this Forum )

signifies the joining of the Iroquois nation, the five tribes...later to be known as the 6 Nations.

Bingo, its known as Hiawatha's belt. The first block (from right to left) representing the Mohawks who live in the east, next the Oneidas, the Onondagas, who are centrally located and also hold the Grand Council (the seat capital) are represented by a tree symbol, the Cayuga Nation who are located near Rochester N.Y. and finally the Seneca Nation who live furthest west. These Nations are all connected by a white path of peace. The white beads that extend outward is also an invatation to other nations who wish to join and live by this Law of Peace. The purple represents the Great Law of Peace, Kariwiio and all the laws and customs the Creator has given the Haudenosaunee to live together in peace.
