and my assumption was that people would read the posts by clicking "View posts since last visit", which gives you threads from all the sections anyway... guess I was wrong   so point well taken but as a part of purple family now I'd have to put a request for a "Purple Family" section so that when I am in a purple mood I can go and post there

Given the prevalence of purple GS's, I'd say that they are right there in the GS mainstream, whether or not you like that fact.  

I generally just skip over the threads that don't look as though they'd be of interest to me.  

of course this isnt a forum for ME to read.  its obviously for everyone, however the sections were created for a reason.  as far as im concerned the general section is for dealing with GS related items.  there are far too many threads that do NOT deal with GS's therefore should be posted somewhere else.  doesnt anyone agree with me? ok ok u wanna debate to the end of time that this thread is a GS thread, whatever.  im speaking in general here.   whats wrong with a little organization??  why am i the devil because i mention that?  and 2005-GS500-PDX, f%$king grow up.  theres nothing wrong with mature conversation.

im not getting on anyone here in particular, im just trying to state the fact that things are getting messy and im sure im not the only one who gets annoyed by it.
