Drtrydr23 reminded me of a mod I'd like to do to my bike: Bar-end mirrors. Do those of you with bar ends like them? Are they functional? Where should I look for a pair? Are the stock mirrors easy to remove? Thanks!

Yes, very fuctional. The stock ones are a snap to get off. Loosen the lock nut and unscrew. You can get Napoleons like mine at a number of places online or off.

EBay usually has a set.

Check misspellings like napolean too.

pablo has some execellent info on his website. But Pablo & JohNLA did their mods a bit different from each other.

I however prefer my stock mirrors for my riding style.

Those Napoleon bar ends look pretty sweet! How much did you pay for them? Got a link? Couldn't find any on ebay.

A variation on the Third Eye mirror.







I slid the mirror's screw through a clamp and then clamped it to the bar end.  Puts the mirror higher and a little more inward vs. the regular install.  It works pretty well, but I think the stock mirrors gave me better visibility.

I like the look of bbanjo's mirrors (hadn't seen any like that before), but it's chimivee's mirrors that I'm looking for. Thanks for the detailed pictures.

Got them at Lowe's in the hardware aisle.  Go to the "specialty" section with all the drawers of "special" parts.  It's just a 3/4" rubber-lined clamp.  I think they were like a buck for a pack of 2.  The bike's bar end is actually more like 1" in diameter, but the 1" clamps won't let you insert/support the mirror's screw through it in the same way.  But if you just bend the tabs on a 3/4" clamp, it works well.  (impossible to explain, but very simple and obvious when you see it)

I also picked up some locking nuts (size 10-24 I think) to replace the mirror's square nut.  Another $.49 or something.  Obviously, I spare no expense.

Type II just like mine then...someone whom I can't remember installed the Type I's (is up on wall of fame)...looks good and sets the handlebars a little lower still than the Type II. God I love those bars though.

I am cancelling my lockhart p. order for my bar ends and doing what you guys have done with the third eyes. They look good! Those bars are damn cool to.

I got them at my local bicycle shop (actually, it was REI).  At least around here, all the bike shops carry them ~ $12-13.  That was one of the reason I went w/ those - I could get them locally.  Tried to find the Pyramids, w/ out luck.

The thing that's a little odd about my install, is that it puts the mirrors rearward of the bars instead of forward, like the Pyramid's bracket.  I did this so I could swivel the mirrors outward a bit to clear my hands. It works fine this way and probably improves field of view, but it seemed a little odd at first.  You could mount Third Eyes directly into the handlebar as they were meant, but for me, they were too low and my arm blocked my view.  Plus, it stuck out just a bit further that way.
