I swear I searched!! But I wasn't able to find the answer  :dunno:
So here's the question: I don't like the seat of my GS (and it's also a bit uncomfortable), I was wondering if I can change it with the seat new GS has (the '01 +  series... I have a '91).
If it's not possible, I saw that many of you bought an aftermarket seat, but the question is: is it possible to use a differently shaped seat? I mean, without that 'thing' going up the tank.. I really don't like it

Corbin made (still makes???) an aftermarket seat for the pre '01 GS's.  I'm not sure if it incorporated the "thing" on the tank or not.  However, the 01+ GS's have a different tank shape.  I don't believe you can fit a post 01 seat on a pre 01 GS.  I could be mistaken...

What's the problem with the extension up the tank?  I suppose you could lop it off.  However, I can't see how that could be comfortable...   :dunno:
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Oh well, I'm a lady I don't really NEED that thing on the tank...
Anyway, if I can't find another seat I like I'll have to cut it off... just a little bit, to make it shorter.

HERE is a discussion on what Roadstergal did to her 05.

In Florida (USA) a company makes seat modification to your original seat.
HERE is the link to their custom seat service page.

Corbin also made (still?) a seat for the 89 - 00 that sits better.

You should be careful on modifications though. The front of the seat has a tab that is needed to keep the seat from moving left to right. The seat only has two points that hold it in place rigidly.

As Jetswing says below, the 01+ is different and requires more modifications.

search? you didn't even had to search...just scroll down ;)

corbin makes one: http://www.corbin.com/suzuki/gs500e.shtml

you can put a +01 seat but you would also have to change the tank and the plastics.
My hunch was right...Pandy is the biggest Post Whore!

Thanks.... I was asking about a '01 seat because I'd like it to be more thick and comfortable. That damn seat I have makes me always slide on the tank  :x
And I don't like the position I have with that seat. I would definitely like a higher, thicker and a bit wider seat.
Starwalt, I'll pay attention to the tab.
Problem is that in this country (Italy) nobody makes aftermarket seats for the GS (like Corbin), I'll try to look on some english sites.
