I love my cat. He's really great. Hell, he's more of a dog than a lot of dogs I've been around.

I know I'd be just as sad if my bike was hit by a dog as I would be if it was hit by a cat. Especially if the dog was one of those mouse sized ones ... you know a rat that barks ... like the italian mortise or poodle that my welder had that he put a price on ... kill it and you get $50 worth of work free ... man was it ever fun yanking its hair out and poking it ... then his wife figured it out and made him regret it ... so the offer was withdrawn ... boy was it a rough couple weeks ... I wanted to torture the freaking thing and I coundn't ... and hell it was right there cowering in fear right in the cage ... was so freaking easy to stick in a steel rod and whack it about ... or tug tufts of hair through the cage ... man was it tough ... then he gave it away ... whew that helped ...
Cool.

I shoulda jumped in yesterday with an opinion, but it's been entertaining reading as to who's on what side of the fence on this one.  My point of view:
  • Although the cat was in the wrong place at the wrong time, it's the responsibility of the rider to be ever on the lookout for the next accident waiting to happen.  Come on -- admit it.  You would never have run over the animal if you were expecting it to run out in front of you.  It's like watching for that ball rolling onto the street, or a car backing up. Expect the unexpected, especially in residential areas.

  • There's an irresponsible (dare I say lazy) pet owner out there.  Cats don't need to be let out at night in urban areas.  I know -- we have two cats that live indoors, or are out on a leash.  (It's more fun to watch paint dry than it is to take a cat for a walk.)

  • Dogs should never roam free in urban areas.  Either it escaped it's bonds, or someone should be fined for causing a nuisance.

  • People and animals are valued differently by society.  Always avoid a person.[/list:u]
It's easy to criticize and sorry if this note seems like I'm preaching.  But it does bring up a useful example that there's a responsibility we all take when we throw a leg over.  We gotta keep our eyes open and ride at speeds reasonable for the conditions.

this reminds me of hunters (people).
Caturday yet?

LOL i never thought that in a millions years me hitting a cat would raise three pages of almost political views.  ;)   But to answere a question some said i why was i doing 40 in a 25 zone? Because the posted limit was 45mph. I tried not to hit it did everything i could except lay the bike over and i fell sorry for the cat also, im not a killer hell i dont even hunt, but i guess sometimes things like this happen. Maybe it was me at fault or maybe the cats owner im not sure.

I know you're joking (hope you are at least) but this isn't funny :(  I don't like little yappy dogs either, but they deserve better treatment than that.

Well ... it was $50 worth of work free ... and I was gonna pass the savings on to y'all on flanges and bars ... Oh well I guess you didn't want that. BTW his daughter bought that dog and promised she'd take care of it and ended up being his problem ... they then gave it away ... or it ran away or it got ran over or eaten by the chupacabrah or whatever ... and no I wasn't joking ... though every one that saw me do it thought it was funny as hell ... till his wife got wind of it ... There is a couple dogs around my house I'd love to torture ... most likely I'd never get that chance but I most likely will run over atleast one of those I think. I'm sorry but its just that kind of dog ... and its owner isn't that far better either ... There is also a couple dogs in my neighborhood that I'd love to play with and bring home. There is this insanely gorgeous alaskan or siberian husky lovely. but yea rats that bark ... yuck ...
Cool.

:) Poor Pinky -- having to deal with stupid people.  The woman with the box was obviously not a cat person, and the Officer should have known better.  Pinky just wanted what MC riders want -- to be free to explore his surroundings and he got to do that in the end.

My version of taking the cat for a walk is more like controlling the cat's prowling on a long tether.
