There are always exceptions, but in general, cats are less of a threat than dogs.

Hey i like all animals cats and dogs and if i did hit one i would definitely stop to help or at least inform the family.  Sorry if i'm a bit miffed at how funny some people think it is to accidentally kill an animal as if we have more right to be there than they do.

Well, not only that, but dogs are generally more aggressive. A house cat is not generally going to chase you and attack you, whereas a dog might, regardless of size  

It depends on the owner and house the animals have been treated...

I had a cat that would try to kill me whenever he had the chance...  But, I was a little bastard and deserved it.  Too bad he tried to kill other people too.    I've been around a few cats that would attack people...  

But, yes...  Generally when a cat is mistreated, it just finds a new family or never comes out of hiding.  But, when a dog is mistreated, they tend to kill babies.   :dunno:

I believe in NY, if you hit an domestic type animal, you must make an effort to contact the owner or get a police report.  Cows, chickens, cats, dogs... If you hit someone's prize pedigree rat-dog, that's definitely damage in excess of $500 and a police report is required.  

Damn bunny hugging (and i like bunnies!) bleeding heart soccer moms in Wisconsin got the state to back down on allowing the hunting of feral cats as nuisance animals.  They aren't native, they can't be tamed, and who the hell is going to care for the millions of wild cats if they are 'rescued'?  I'd sit on my patio and ping away at any uncollared cat with an air rifle...

LOL, I wasnt splitting, i was going 40(in a 45 i should add), and it wasnt a residential. Although there were houses on the right side of the street. On the left side was my local kawi, suzuki, polaris, and formarly sea-doo dealer. Its a pretty heavy travelled street , one of those streets that wide and long and everybody speeds down.
