6 time division I-AA champs!  By the way take a look one day at how many great NFL players came from small schools.

Oh, and by the by D I-AA has a proper tournament, none of this malarkey with bowl games and polls.  You win and you win, you lose you go home.  The way it should be.

you're right in that great players are not bound by any external factors.

vast majority of the nfl player now days are from 1-a schools. and it only gets more competitive meaning if you don't make it to 1-a schools, your chance of getting drafted are slim.

here's top 10 schools that have produced the most nfl hall of famers:

Notre Dame (10)
Southern California (10)
Michigan (7)
Alabama (6)
Illinois (6)
Ohio State (6)
Minnesota (5)
Oregon (5)
Penn State (5)
Southern Methodist (5)
Syracuse (5)

the playoff sytem is great but most american just don't care about division 1-aa football. how many people even watch 1-aa championship game, compare to people who watch the national championship bowl game...

HOW 'BOUT THE DRAGON ON NOV. 5TH WEEKEND?

some of my buddies are going to be in a cabin at pigeon forge, tn for that weekend.  I was thinking about going to stay with them friday night, then hitting up the dragon on Saturday, Nov. 5 - my 21st birthday.

right now it's just speculation, but would anyone else be interested?

Can't my B-Day is the 3rd.  I"ll be 25, so my insurance goes down    I've gotta go see my folks, not to mention school is a Buddha Loves You right now.  I don't have enough time for school work, let alone a trip.  Of course I still make time for GSTwin, maybe that is why it is taking me so long to graduate. :dunno:

if nobody is up for tail of the dragon, how about a mid-week caesar's head run sometime?  i know we have some clemson/greenville/anderson people around here.

i just did caesar's head for the first time yesterday.  AMAZING.  traffic was nil, being a weekday and nearing dusk (i ran into some problems getting up there... like running out of gas).   weather was perfect, the turns were amazing, and the scenery was beautiful.  and it taught me exactly how much I DON'T know about my skills and bike.  i'd really like to have someone to ride with and critique me.

JetSwing

where is caesar's head?

caesar's head is on the nc/sc border, about 45 minutes north-northwest of greenville, sc.  google maps shows it if you scroll around and find it, but you can't type it in directly.  the closest 'cities' are rosman, nc and traveler's rest, sc.
http://maps.google.com/
it's a spectacular view, especially when leaves start turning.  the fun part is about 7 miles one way, i think.

yep, that's it.  i did the road coming in from the south to right where the "1" on the map is.  got out, enjoyed the view for a few minutes, and rode back to greenville.  if there was more light i would have explored the roads around there more.

FearedGS500

just got my GS500f .. was in canton,nc for a few months .. wish i was up there with it now .. i love them curving roads :) ... maybe when i go up there i can get me a small trailer and pull the bike up there with the eclipse :P

If you want a really twisty experience (short of the Dragon of course) look on the map at Rosman, NC. See 215 going north off 64? Just south of Balsam Grove, NC is where I turn off to do volunteer work at PARI.

From the PARI turn back south to 64 there are about 92 "steering transitions."
Most of the outside transitions do not have guard rails so if you run off the road...gravity effects are amplified.  :o

215 connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway at Balsam Grove, BTW.
