has a Wilhelm scream.

Man, PJ doesn't do anything small.  It's goddam impressive.  And I ran into a gal who works on my floor when I was leaving; she's seen the original, and said he was careful to include many 'moments' from the original.

The millipedes creeped the living daylights out of me.  But the leeches looked disturbingly like uncircumcised penises.

But then again, what doesn't?  :P  :dunno:
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

I try to avoid them.

I wonder if Andy Serkis will ever play a part that's not CGI?   :P  I was just looking at the IMDB pictures - PJ lost a ton of weight!

I have to say I wasn't impressed as much as everyone else seems to be with King Kong. Although it did have its moments, I think it had equally bad moments. Any of the scenes with Kong and Ann together were pretty damn amazing in both performances and visuals. Naomi Watts is just an incredible actress. Any scenes with Kong were good too especially the T-Rex and Empire State Building scenes. Anytime humans started to interact with the CG closely, though, it just looked unconvincing. The Brontosaurus scene is at the top of this list. I've also read in so many reviews how in Kong, Jack Black proved he could be a serious leading man. Are you kidding me? His performance was completely laughable especially the final line he gives in the flick before it fades to black.

All in all it was fun, but not memorable. :thumb:

I haven't seen it yet, but my little sister (who is 16) said that she liked it except the boat they took to the island was too small to transport Kong back to America.

The laws of physics were studiously ignored throughout the movie - but we're talking about a movie with 25-foot apes and dinosaurs.  Science has no part. ;)  That being said, the ape would have fit on the large flat bed of their ship.  Dunno how that would have screwed its seaworthiness, but what the hell.

I wondered at the time how drunk they had to get Jack Black to say the final line.  But apart from that, he was very good.  I thought his crass cynicism was a nice balance to PJ's excessive pathos.  Someone else should have had that last line (the gal who was in the original King Kong was supposed to have it, but she died) - or just cut the thing, but I bet PJ was wedded to it.

NiceGuysFinishLast

well, I haven't seen it, nor do I intend to waste $9 or so to see it in theaters.. so would somebody who HAS seen it mind PMing me this cheesy final line, so I may have a laugh or two?

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Jake D

Yeah, that is a bad last line.

So, since I always jack RG's movie reviews, I have to say that "Ice Harvest" was a hoot!!!!!

Worth the $19 I spent on tickets for me and Nika.

I would just like to offer up my review of king kong: Steaming Pile...

I hate sitting through an 'intense' action sequence waiting for it to end because the plotless storyline is somehow more interesting than death and destruction. I would have walked out at the brontosaurus traffic jam had I not driven with friends.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest...thank you

Andy Serkis played Lumpy the cook, the guy with the squinty eye.

there was some really dodgy compositing, especially the stampede, but overall the film was excellent.  the references to the original were very well done.

Final lines:

Photographer:
Doesn't matter, planes got him

Jack:
It wasn't the planes, it was beauty killed the beast
Something is wrong with my twin...all of a sudden it's V shaped!  Wait, no, now it's a triple!  ...and I IZ NOT a postwhore!

Robert Armstrong said the Beauty and The Beast line much better, but i still liked Jack Black in the role.
