I made one of those once...used a 54cc chainsaw engine.  Something like 4hp...I dunno.

I took some cheap trucks and made my own axles for them and lengthened te pivot so that it could holt up to the load being 12" for and aft of the plank.  The axles were 8" in the front and 10" in the back and I used 8X4X4 knobbies.

A rope tied to the axles provided the anchor for my throttle and support for my body during hard turning.  It was like snowboarding with a motor...

Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

I've done that, too...54cc chainsaw motor.

90mm eurethane wheels actually get moving pretty quick at 22,000rpm...not that anything above 15mph was ever seen once we started fighting gravety...

Jazzzzz

for $700 I could buy a project motorcycle and get it running, ain't no way I'd drop that kind of coin on motorized skateboard

I think there cool, but I used to skateboard and I currently snowboard, so I guess its just my kinda thing.
