The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

MSRP for a 2005 SV1000S is $8,599. You can snag one on eBay for less than 5 grand. I saw one go for under $4000 recently, too.

An SV1kS will probably be my first off-the-showroom-floor new bike until I've saved up enough to buy a beemer for touring.

A guy over on sport-touring.net got almost $2500 off MSRP on his new '05 SV1kSes just a couple of weeks ago.

Church, you could probably get one for a song from Honda East, they sell in huge volumes so they have great prices.

Yeah, I read that there were a bunch of old SV1kS models that dealers were practically giving away. Hell, they were even slapping on color matched lower fairings as a freebie with the lower price.

Oh shaZam! the busa!!  I want it!

Probably super high miles or a maintanance nghtmare, though...go check it out for me.

makenzie71

and bandit 400's aren't that rare...anything that I have at least one of lying in my front yard isn't rare.

Roadstergal

Maybe "extremely rare" referred to the "looks and runs great" bit.   :P

i'd buy ewm all if i had the cash, but every time i think of upgrading (bigger cc) i thiunk about insurance prices, and plus, i love this forum, i would be so sad if all i could ever reply with was "yeah, my bike has more displacement in one of it's cylinders than in your whole 487cc engine"

maybe in a few years...

A charlotte dealer had them for 5200 without fairing and 5500 with that 1/4 fairing. 6K with full fairing and tapeworks kit ... Cheapest I have seen new ...
Cool.

this is what I got back from the guy with the Busa...

QuoteHello,

The bike is still for sale. Never had any mechanical problems. I must tell you that I had to move to UK one month ago with my work and I took the bike with me hoping to drive it here as well. I work in Public relations departament at a hotel here and because of this job I change my home quite often. Here I had an unpleasant surprise because the bike is an US model and to pay the registration here in Europe, to pass all the emissions and standards  and many other would be quite expensive and nobody would do it. I have tried to sell it locally but it was not succesfully. That is why I am trying to sell the bike back in USA, there will be no further problems .The shipping and handling ar included in the price.

I have sent you some pics
