Ok....did a search and have even looked around on the net and have not found what I'm looking for.
I'm going to replace my chain and sprockets and decided on going with the JT Sprocket brand for the replacement sprockets. They seem to have a good strong recomendation.
Now.....I need to know about the chain replacement. I can not find anything that tells me a chain is a chain. I don't want to pick up some no name brand chain and find out that it will need to be replace as soon as I jump on the GS. I want something I can get some use out of. I see brands like DID and Regina on the net and kits on ebay that have a no name brand chain and no name brand sprockets.
Can someone help me out on a recomendation for a chain and if you happen to know a good place on the net I can compare prices with? I will also be checking out my local dealers for pricing on a chain........Thank you...

I can't tell you about brands, but I call tell you they're not all the same...  The really cheap ones are usually crap and the really expensive one are usually "brand priced."

I just went to a Suzi dealer and said, "Give me a chain that doesn't suck."

how much did you spend on the chain from the dealer?

Oh jeeze...  I can't remember.  It was less than a bill...

I was kinda stuck though, I rode up there and realize I wasn't riding home without a new front sprocket...  So, I got a new front, rear, and chain all at once.

Chains from the dealer usually run about $80.

Thanks for the feed back....I guess I will be hitting up the dealer for a chain. Sounds like I should stick with OEM. Who knows....if the sprockets are around the same price I might just get them from the dealer also....nothing better than factory parts.....

As long as you dont need nothing fancy the stock sprokets wear good. You can also go up and  down on the teeth if you like . Get good quality chain should be the eleventh commandment.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I've gone with a DID chain and JT sprockets front and rear sprockets. I figured they price was difference for the whole shooting match was just five bucks compared to stock and the dealer and repair shops all said the setup I purchased would last a lot longer and wear better.

The stock chain is a D.I.D. chain according to the Clymer manual.

The D.I.D. is a good choice. Another excellent chain is Tsubaki.
Stay away from the cheap chains, they don't have the tensile strength and wear resistance of the best chains.
I run a Tsubaki chain on my GS500 and have used these for years on all my other nikes.
