Aight people, I need all of you to download this short video, a mere 2.6 megs, and tell me how far this person went through the air. This person is me, the end result was 4 stitches in my chin and hopefully a sweet scar I can brag about later. But I need y'all to REALLY watch this video, I mean pause, zoom, rewind, etc. to give me your best guess as to how far I went. I say I flew 30 feet, my friend says 10. I will win this discussion. You must watch  carefully to see exactly where I left the ground, and where I eventually landed. Also realize how small I was at the beginning of the jump, and how my size has increased by the time I land. And enjoy the music.

And if the consensus is less than 25 feet, I will politely decline to link my friend to this thread.  :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff:

The music sucks.  The digger you took as punishment for forcing me to listen to disco was worth watching it.

20 or so feet.

17-20ft. Figure a car length is 15ft. You're landing at around a Suburban.

I think he went farther then you guys think.

I would think each ski is about 5'
I then think he went over 30+

Even still, at after all that my head says, on the slopes it seems you go far, but you dont really. Then I think back to watching some people hit the jumps.. some times they do go waaaay down the hill before hitting the ground. Maybe only 20-25 horizontal feet, but 30 or something down the hill. I donno, what do you people think, after looking at my pic?

Edit: added a Suburban O0. I tried to set the heights of the car to the right height compaired to the guy.. though for all I know hes 4 foot 2...

isnt there some sort of mathematical equation we can apply to this and get the exact distance?

Sure.. send them back up there and measure with a photo in hand to mark where they were and landed. Oh, and take something to measure with too ;)

Actually, if we could figure out how tall he is in one of the points,  like the last one would be good, then you could probably estimate it.

Height at end : Height at start <-- some good ratio. Then, um..
measure the distance on the pic from start to end,
multiply the distance by the ratio.
*dont actually try this, it probably isnt sound math at all

A2 + B2 = C2

A and B are the edges of a triangle that form a 90 degree angle.
A = 25'
B = 10'

So basically the angled side (from take-off to landing) is 26.92582403567252'
