They're trying to get a bill passed  to close the Loopholes Insurance companies can use to get away  with not paying benefits to people hurt while riding "recreational" vehicles.... yes Motorcycles are considered recreational vehicles.

Visit the AMA Website and use their form letter to Let your Local Senator and House Rep know you wish them to support the bills.

http://www.ama-cycle.org/legisltn/rapidresponse.asp

Go to the Action Alert parts and read them and fill them out if you think actually getting your benefits paid to you  from your insurance company that you send your hard earned money to is a good thing.

When the 2nd Amendment is lost, the rest will soon follow.

Torque is LBs-FT Damn it.
Yeah that was me.    One of my rides

I'd be ticked if my insurance company decided not to pay benefits after sending them money every month... What's the point of paying for the benefits if they won't pay up? I think as long as the DMV is willing to license any motorized vehicle for street legal use... then they can't be all THAT recreational... Recreational is like taking a four wheeler out in the boonies where a license isn't required...

My employer just changed health plans, so now I have to find out, all over again, whether my work medical insurance will cover me in case of a motorcycle accident.  Last time, it took me about 3 months and a chain of several contacts in our Benefits Plan Administrators and BCBS, to finally get the full list of Exclusions to our office medical insurance policy.

I'm not sure that the bills to correct this "loophole" are truly "recently introduced", as the AMA website indicates.  Both the Senate and House bills were referred to committee, in March and July respectively:

If anyone here has a Senator on the Committe for Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (http://help.senate.gov):

Senator Judd Gregg (NH)
Senator Edward Kennedy (MA), Ranking Member
Senator Bill Frist (TN)
Senator Christopher Dodd (CT)
Senator Lamar Alexander (TN)
Senator Tom Harkin (IA)
Senator Richard Burr (NC)
Senator Barbara Mikulski (MD)
Senator Johnny Isakson (GA)
Senator James Jeffords (I) (VT)
Senator Mike DeWine (OH)
Senator Jeff Bingaman (NM)
Senator John Ensign (NV)
Senator Patty Murray (WA)
Senator Orrin Hatch (UT)
Senator Jack Reed (RI)
Senator Jeff Sessions (AL)
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (NY)
Senator Pat Roberts (KS)

...then it would be especially helpful if you could write to them in support of Senate bill S.577.

If anyone here has a Representative in the House Subcommittee on Employer-Employee Relations (http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/cgi-bin/newcommittee.cgi?site=ctc&lang=&commcode=heducation_employer):

Sam Johnson (R-TX) (Chairman)
John Kline (R-MN)
John A. Boehner (R-OH)
Howard P. (Buck) McKeon (R-CA)
Todd R. Platts (R-PA)
Patrick J. Tiberi (R-OH)
Joe Wilson (R-SC)
Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO)
Kenny Marchant (R-TX)
Bobby Jindal (R-LA)
Charles W. Boustany, Jr. (R-LA)
Virginia Foxx (R-NC)
Robert E. Andrews (D-NJ) (Ranking Minority Member)
Dale E. Kildee (D-MI)
Donald M. Payne (D-NJ)
Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY)
John Tierney (D-MA)
David Wu (D-OR)
Rush Holt (D-NJ)
Betty McCollum (D-MN)
Raul Grijalva (D-AZ)

...then it would be especially helpful if you could write to them in support of H.R. 2793.
