^it'd be better than the water-bottle jet-pack.

Only if you wanted to burn yourself... A lot.

OK let's assume 375lb bike and 200lb rider,

1000 lbs of thrust div. by 575lbs mass times 32ft/s2 = 55.6ft/s2

If you started at 0 ft/s, in 4 seconds you would reach 55.6 x 4 ft/s = 222.4 ft/s = 151mph

Neglecting air resistance of course.

0 to 60 in 1.6s  Dayum!!!

You might want to tie your hands to the handlebars!

I would love to see video of this!   I can just imagine the trail of smoke going down the highway!!

Yeah, I'm going to add this (or a variation of it) to my list of "things to do one day sooner or later". Seriously.
Signatures are displayed at the bottom of each BIKE or personal message. BBC code and WORKS may be used in your WELL.

if anybody is actually planning on doing this..seriously dont....   if you are welding this on and dont do a good job theres a high chance it will rip off your bike and into your back...and if u do get it welded on tightly you have to keep in mind bikes are shorttt (lengthwise) and extremely top heavy.  if u weld it half a degree off perfectly straight, you're toast.  on top of that u'd probably need to weld your forks or something into place or get the worlds best steering dampner.
and it would be pretty hard keeping your bike from pulling a wheelie and flipping or lifting off from behind and flipping...seriously don't do this...send it in to mythbusters

My original post was of course meant as fantasy. There is no safe way to work with that much thrust in such a small period of time and in such a small package unless you are half a mile away behind a plexiglass blast shield. These large rocket motors required extensive certification from rocketry associations before they can be purchased and are considered a high-type explosive. Dream on...

+1  I'd love to see it, just not with a real person.  Seeing Buster get smashed is always fun.

More like 5 or 6 busa's all strapped together ... :icon_mrgreen:

Skip the solid rocket and go with a nitrous alcohol rocket ... you can turn it on and off when needed.

i guess I should mention that this is a vid of a rocket propelled bike..

Oooo more examples of rocket power ... this is fun  :icon_mrgreen:

236 kph on a rocket powered mountain bike.  I have gone 80kph on a mountain bike (down a mountain) and I wouldn't recommend any faster than that.  I can't imagine 236.

I saw this guy on discovery channel;  he built his daughter a CO2 powered bike too (30mph top speed).
