I've been riding since last September, and I haven't dropped her yet.

I was wondering WHEN you guys dropped your bikes?  First day? Second day?  Week After?

I have had my bike for almost a year now with 4500 miles on it and have yet to drop it.

Funniest name I was ever called on here "cap'n fast n' furious"

A guy once told me "having nitrous on your car is alot like dating a hot girl with a STD, your afraid to hit it because of what might happen."

Yes, yes, and yes?    I dropped my po' lil GS a LOT.  Fortunately, he was already very much a beginner bike, so the levers just got a little curlier, and the bike just got a little added character each time. O0

I think I managed to keep my SVS up for the whole first month?  8)

First day, before my first ride. Dropped the '92 a couple times after that. Dropped the '04 the first day, too.

any common factors pertaining to the drops?

Going up on the centerstand. On the '04 I didn't anticipate the extra weight of the F model.

So basically you didn't drop while in motion.  I would imagine that there's less damage that way.

I dropped it numerous times while in motion. On my second ride on the '92, still on the first day, I lowsided because I hit a combination of diesel fuel and sand in a corner. A dumptruck had overturned there a few days earlier and it hadn't been cleaned all the way. I also dumped it in a parking lot a week later because it wsa covered in leaves and sticks and water and my rear wheel locked and lowsided again. Then a few weeks after that I mangled the fucker up hard.

Then I bought the '04. Crashed that last month. Lowsided at 50 or so mph in turn 10 at TWS.

Now you see why I can safely call myself Sir-Crash-A-Lot?

damn alpha that's a lot of investment in gear...what do you wear that is keeping you so safe that you keep getting back up?

On the '92 I went down with a Fieldsheer Mach 1 armored mesh jacket, Olympia Digital Protector gloves (BAD BAD gloves), and a Shoei Z-II helmet. Didn't walk away from that one immediately because I smacked my head on a curb.
On the '04 I went down in full Teknic leathers. Sport pants, Lightning jacket, Carbon gloves, and Sidi boots. Got up and walked away from that one right then.

I LOOOOOVE my gear. The Fieldsheer mesh jackets are great, especially for warm weather. Great ventilation, and CE armor is standard. I put the CE armor from the Mach 1 jacket into my Teknic leather jacket. Fit perfectly. I won't wear a jacket if it doesn't have CE armor in it.

I think all in all I've only trashed $300 in gear.

The first time I rode a dirt bike I hit a basketball goal and still have a scar to prove it.

I fell once during my MSF class.  Locked up the front brake during emergency stop drills.  The bars jerked to the left, and I went flying to the right.   :o  Bruise on my thigh from landing on my keys and some scuffs on one boot and one glove.  The gear did its job.   :thumb:

Bought my GS and accidently let it tip over in the garage once after about 40 miles and two days.  I was trying to put it onto the centerstand while sitting on it, and that wasn't working, so I decided to get up and do it.  I tried to hold the bike upright while I dismounted, and it went to the right.     Laid her down easy and had no damage.  Glad I'd read the proper technique for picking it back up.

In england we do a cbt which is a 1 day training couse to let you ride a 125cc bike on the rode.
I did my cbt in winter and it was raining. We were doing emergency stops in a car park and I locked the front wheel and crashed sliding down the tarmack. This is were my love of motorcycles began. :icon_mrgreen:
