Jet kits

I have a 2002 gs500k2 and am getting the V&H Supersport exhaust (discountcycleparts.com 269.49 shipped in us if interested) & k&n filter. What do i need to create a jet kit?  I know the pilot needles, main and mid jets.  What else do i need need to rejet the carbs?  I'm new to this, but my freind is a diesel mech and is going to help me.  Would it be easier/cheeper to get a dynojet kit, and if so which one works (i googled it, but some places say the 03 and up  will fit, some say the 89-00 kits work, very confusing) Anyone with experience in this area please respond asap, very anxious to start whoring my bike.  Thanks in advance

There is a jetting matrix in the FAQ - tells you what jets for what year with what mods -

There is some controversy over the size of main jet to use with "stage 3" pod filters and an exhaust.  Many people go with 150 mains (all years) others say that is too big and go a bit smaller.  On my 01 I have 147.5 at the moment - I might get a bit more power one size smaller, but I learned in the 2stroke days that running rich keeps the motor cooler, and keeps you from embarrasing holes in the pistons.

thanks fotr the reply, i ha dfound the jeting matrix before i posted, but it was an old one where nothing was psted for 01< bikes, all it said was stock.  Upone further investigation, i decided on this setup (20, 67.5, 147.5)  seems to work for others, so i'll give it a shot.  now to get them...

The jet kit part number for a 2002 is DJ-3150.
Works great on my 2002.  Got it through Suzuki.  This works
for a stock air box and filter.  Fast warmup and now pulls much better at
lower rpms.  I can run 500 rpms lower.  Since I can go 500 rpms lower my gas mileage has stayed about the same.  No flat spots no hicups.
Don't be cheap and go the harware store route.
This is for a stock air box.
Now have 22,000 + miles.
Put in the jet kit at 15,400 miles.

What configuration have you used? Pilots, mid, main, needle config?
'02 GS500 Yellow, Mods: K&N drop in w/o restrictor, BSM full exhaust, 132.5/60/17.5 (e-clip @ 4), progressive springs, katana rear shock ('01), fenderoctomy,  sleek mirrors, loud dual automotive horn, warmed grips(home made), SS front brake line.

What you get in a "Jet Kit"

spacers
assortment of main jets from 125mm-150mm
assortment of mid jets 
needles/seats

NO pilots are included with the "jet kit"
and list for $80ish dollars I think [conservative estimate]
and it is going to take alot of trial and error/tinkering to get it 100% on

Ok Hardware route iincludes

#4 wasters [aka-the spacers]
The Jetting Matrix [It will put you into the infield setting not just the ball park]
The correct jets [all the mid's/mains/pilots]
Instructions in english :flipoff: haha j/k the kit's are probably in spanish/french/chinese/japanese/whatever

cost a MAXIMUM of $35 [sealership's $5 a jet]

Nice to spend the big bucks and get something that works.
Mine is a 2002 and lots of the stuff posted was for the older bikes.  The guys at Suzuki had put in the same kit into other 2002's so they knew it would work.  I happen to be lucky and have a great dealer who does good work.  I don't mind paying someone to do something if I know they will do a good job.
If you want to do the work yourself I would talk to your local parts guy and ask him if they had put any jet kits in.  At least you will get something with a track record.
