I bought a new front tire off of ebay last week, just recieved it yesterday and it has about 1000 miles left of usable life... I'm so pissed off, look at the auction:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4604856076&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT  item number 4604856076.   I have written the seller, but he wants me to pay to ship it back before he'll refund the money... I'm pretty sure this is just a scam and I've been had and should let it go, but hot damn does it piss me off.

In any event, look out for CCOFSALEM if you're ebaying,  even if this isn't a scam, the seller is a f%$king MORON!  :2guns:     :2guns:

Yes you shouldn't have to pay a penny- I agree. If it comes down to eating it -eat it and Give him a nice honest negative feedback. Check with Ebay- there may be something they can help with (He might want to keep his 100% feedback too...but don't try to "blackmail"  him with that...)

Hindsight is 20/20 they say ...but I can see that the tire looks like it has been used in the pic. The color would have been consistent -not the worn grey look in the tread area....

Anyway good luck.. i've been burned on Ebay twice- got a refund once...took me five months and it was from me emailing them once a month.

Did you Paypal him? Check out what they can do too if you did.

When the 2nd Amendment is lost, the rest will soon follow.

He's got a 100% feedback on 17 transactions so if you threaten a scathing negative feedback UNLESS you get a full refund.

I would leave the feedback as such: Listed tire as new, never mounted sent a used USELESS tire/ would NOT recommend.

That shoudl pretty much finish him off.

I was burned by someone who sold me software but didn't give me the Key Code number. He also listed it as new and I left neg feedback. I would also contact eBay and Paypal as the per previouse replies mentioned.

Leaving negative feedback probably won't be that useful.  All he has to do is start a new account.  What he did is called fraud and maybe theft by deception.  I would see about getting the authorities involved.

Raise absolute hell with eBay, PayPal, or your credit card company to get the payment cancelled; do whatever it takes to make this goober refund your money IN FULL. Do NOT roll over and play dead for him... If all else fails, post a link to this thread in the NEGATIVE feedback, to give his other prospective customers some nice reading material. John or one of the mods might want to consider creating a special eBay forum, so we'll know which scumbags and ripoff artists to avoid, and which sellers can be trusted with our business...

Let the word go forth, from this time and place, to friend and foe alike... now HAMMER this clown!

His feedback seems kinda odd....

"Tire just as advirtised"
"Item as stated"
"Could it be better than stated?"

I dunno, I have higher feedback than him, and have never gotten an "item as stated"  :dunno_white:

I agree though. He sent you something that was not what you bought. He should refund you all the funds and pay to have it shipped back if he wants it.

I bought a pair of gloves from a guy on eBay a while back and advertised them as "in good condition, cleaned regularly, worn for only 3 months" but when I got them they were DEFINITELY not in good condition or EVER cleaned. I e-mailed the guy and he sent me a refund of the purchase price, no including shipping, and told me to keep the gloves.

Maybe you can offer that deal to the guy?

He said he was worried about me scamming him by asking for my money back, and I simply stated that just like the initial transaction where I paid him before he shipped it, I needed him to refund my money before I shipped it back.  I took pictures of his used tire next to my new rear tire and sent him pics of the difference, he said today that he would refund my paypal payment and give me another $20 for shipping it back to him.  Hopefully this will be resolved, but why he wants the tire back is beyond me.

If this doesn't work out as easily as I'm hoping it will, I will pursue other channels on ebay and paypal, I've read before that paypal is quite good when it comes to dealing with scam artists and can take the money back for you.  Anyway, thanks a lot for your quick insightful responses (as per the usual)!

he prolly wants it back to put it back on ebay and hope someone doesn't stand up if he does it again. we need to keep an eye for it and let everyone know if it is back on there misrepresented.
I would still elave negative feedback because of the hassle and time it has caused you. If he is giving the money back and extra for shipping so quickly, seems to me like he was prepared for soemthing like this IMO

address it was shipped from?   it looks like it should be Cycle Country of Salem  (which is the only suzuki dealer here in the valley) and is located on the corner of broadway and market in salem.  i've siad before that they were a shitty dealer, and i'll say it again, they are a shitty dealer.  thier service sucks in person, i can't imigine what it's like online when they don't have to deal with you.

yeah tire definately looks worn.... kind of wonder why it woudl only be 50 bucks if it was a BRAND NEW tire?!

My recent eBay experience was ordering an already-shaved seat for my SVS (being vertically challenged sucks  :icon_razz:). It was advertised as a 2004 seat, and it SHOULD have fit my '06....but of course it didn't. Fortunately, I didn't spend too much for it ($20, including shipping), so I guess I'll slap an ad on BARF and make sure that the buyer tries it on his/her bike before actually buying it. *sigh* And I was so excited about the possibility of putting two toes down.

He refunded the money via PayPal today, I gotta hand this to him, it was a quick refund... which makes hhgsm31's point even more apparent.  I called up Cycle Country of Salem and it wasn't them, they were actually extremely helpful, the guy who sells stuff for them on eBay (who knows eBay better than I) helped me for about 20 minutes and told me what I should do if he wouldn't give the money back, so props to him/them for that.  Anyway, it's cleared up now (except for the fact that I have a $90 credit on PayPal with nothing to buy...), but the fact remains that we should have a bad eBayer list going on FAQs or something similar where we catalog these guys names.   Thanks again for the help everyone.

As I recall, you should be able to transfer that $90 from your paypal to your checking account. IIRC..

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

I've left that kind of feedback often. The seller outright lied. or sent you the wrong tire...you shouldnt have to pay a dime if tire that arrived wasnt actually NEW.

Well you got your money back.  Ship it back promptly, leave good feedback for fast refund due to the item not suiting your needs and be done with it.

I work with a girl who'se brother was killed like an hour after getting a tire he bought on ebay installed on the front. Turns out the Tire was used and defective and it blew out on him. After that, theres No way would I buy a tire off ebay, UNLESS it was from someone with an Ebay store and had a high feedback rating spread out over a significant time frame.

I'd just not leave him feedback. If you give him a feedback he will give you a negative out of spite and revenge. Neutral will just piss him off too. Just don't leave him a feedback period.
