gs500f .. i live in Northern Virginia, so I covered it up before the snowstorm.

today, it's nice out, i go remove the cover.

something is wrong.

both mirrors are out of whack, bent towards the bike

the handlebars have seemingly done a 180 forwards.. the controls are nearly facing up and down and the handlebars are more in a position like monkey bars on a cruiser.  i cannot force them back into place, so they aren't loose.

how the hell did that happen?  if someone bumped my bike and picked it up, the handlebars couldn't do THAT kind of bend, would they?  i noticed no scratches on the bike, i don't know if the bike cover was the cause of that, or what..

needless to say, i'm quite concerned .. how would i even go about getting the handlebars back into place?

grr... this sucks :(

Loosen the clamps on the tops of the bars. They're under the chrome covers. 2 per clamp, 4 total. Loosen, adjust bars, retighten. Jaaaa.

What might have happened was the snow and wind was so great that it tweaked the bars and mirrors.

they'll move easier if it's really cold out.  Once it warms back up they'll synch up tight.

If nothing's obviously broken just put the stuff back like you want it and go.

budget speed demon

sounds like someone is messing with you.
Stealth GS parts include;carbon fiber headlight faring, chin spoiler,V&H full system,NHK steeringdamper, titan solo racetail,cbrF2 carbon fiber chainguard, proformance forksprings with emulators,SS front brake line, gsxr remote reservoir rear shock, pirelli sport demons,79mm pistons(555cc)-more to come

scratch

Sounds more like a combination of the weight of the snow on the cover and adequeately loose enough controls (so that the controls rotate on the bars instead of breaking levers in a crash - old dirtbike trick), and the cold.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?
