YHKZ- I get what you're saying (although I don't know the Pable situation) and I agree....but there is something to be said about all the posts/threads concerning people's attitudes and that they're really just feeding those shameful persons' egos.....basically, you're just giving them the attention they crave....like giving a child negative attention.....they don't care as long as they're the center of attention....

  I like how this became Pablo's crusade    Nobody blew a gasket!  It was a culmination of events that led up to the decision to allow actual *real* moderation.  That's all.  This means more eyes watching the board, more things sent to tard farm, and actual banning.  That's all.  In a couple of days there will be more moderators watching.

i can kinda relate, Granted im not a moderator but i to get tired of the BS. truth be told my  number of posts have droped alot, ive even gotten to where i ride my XL250 and kat6 more then the GS.  i dont mind passing along things ive learned, but i think folks who already have stomped the path through the bush would rather pass the torch then repeat the same things 30x and have to re-argue 1/2 that another 15x.   atleast thats how im feeling anyway.

Vehement disagreements usually occur when both parties are essentially correct, IMHO.

If you analyze most recent spats, typically between two focal points with others chiming in that are insignificant to the perspectives, both points are usually correct or OK.

I belong to a Yahoo group for 3-Wheel vehicles. Like motorcycle groups, there are the educated, the experienced, the clueless, the curious, the lurkers, the etc. as part of that group.

One member constantly harps on stability theory based on experience or what others have cited as correct. He is basically self educated and has lots of experience in many things. He is currently developing  an electric car for small production. What he says is typically blatant, but intended to make others aware of possible safety issues.

He usually gets heated responses to his posts from people who are also correct. In most places this is called Peer Review.

Peer review is a normal process and that is what occurs here and in the big world of science. The difference in science is that they go to buildings, set up posters to display their data and push their theories, go a meeting room and argue point-counterpoint, until one side or neither side wins.

The elected officials we send to govern us do the same thing in the buildings we pay for. They argue for this or that until one side wins or a compromise is made. Ever see video of Parliament in the UK? You'd think those people will kill each other after work. Yet, they understand it is part of the process.

Here we have the insulatory internet that robs us of the ability to see facial/body language that helps us to  govern civil behavior. I dare say if we all were in a room together, these spats wouldn't elevate to the ban/pissy level they achieve. The contrary parties would remain contrary. They would probably keep offensive comments and thoughts to themselves. At the very least, the peripheral joiners-in would remain civil also.

The grousing would be reserved for the "team talk" phase rather than the "debate" phase of the issue. If you made it to the end of this post, you are probably not ADD/ADHD.
