Helmet question for people with *very* small heads

So I gotta get my wife a helmet b/c she won't stop bugging me about letting her ride with me. Only problem is she has a TINY head apparently. She went to the dealership to get fitted and her head measured 21". The only helmets that the dealership said would fit were Arai and Shoei size xxs. (She tried on the Shoei and it fit perfect). Of course, that means the cheapest helmet for her is $303 at the dealership, a little cheaper online. Also they only come in black or white at that size.
The youth sizes of other brands (HJC) had too chubby of cheeks, and I tried looking online for any other brand that may offer a size with similar measurments to the ones listed above and couldn't find anything.
Anybody have any ideas? I don't wanna spend $300 freakin dollars on a helmet that will get used maybe a few times a month.

I always teased her about her small noggin... but I don't think I deserve this. I gotta pay for school!

Try Bell Helmets.

I have a pretty small head too, and found that they had a pretty good range of sizes.

Easy solution:  Divorce the pinhead.   :icon_mrgreen:

If it fits well, buy it.  I don't like to spend a lot of money either, but some things are worth it and some things aren't.  Head protection for your wife is worth it.  If you can't afford it right now, save some money.

This is coming from a pinhead BTW.  I wear a Shoei TZ-R, plain jane white, size xs.  The RF-1000 seemed a little tighter than the TZ-R if she has narrow cheeks.

Arai fit was marginally better, but it wasn't enough to go from $300 to $750 for a lid.  Arais only came in graphics too.  I hate graphics.

Anyway, that's my $0.02
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

easiest solution here is to offer her $200 to spend however she wants, an not worry about riding :thumb:

Have you looked into the cost of a head transplant?  If it's cost effective you could trade for a larger skull, then save a few bucks on the helmet.  :thumb:

What was that quote?... got a $5 head, get a $5 helmet?

I know where you're coming from... it's always hard to part with large amounts of coin, however methinks this is a worthy expense.

My wife got the KBC VR-2 Euro in an extra-small for a reasonable price... I take a medium in the same line.

I tried on a large number of helmets when I was looking and found that no matter who you are, only a few brands are going to fit you, so sometimes you just gotta buy the one that fits.

a bit off topic, and i don't mean to jack the thread, but I wear a size 7 1/4 hat, and i needed a xxl helmet.  Went into the shop, found the biggest helmet the had (HJC XXL) and tried it on as a joke.  I was kinda upset because it fit, well.  Don't know if their helmets run small and that's why i needed a supersized helmet, but i thought i'd share my "embarrasment" with you.

I think Scorpion might make an XS helmet that's pretty small? My first helmet was (I think) an HJC XS, but I bought a S Scorpion; the XS was really tight. I got my Scorpion on sale for about $160.00.  :)

I wonder if any of the manufacturers offer alternative padding that might make the XS or even XXS helmets even smaller?

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I have seen websites claiming that HJC makes an xxs, but have yet to find one for sale. I still need to do a little shopping. But in the end, I think $300 is cheap compared to both divorce and head transplants (Unless I go to Canada), so I guess I just gotta put it in perspective.
And BTW, I was wrong, her head is actually 20", not 21"... so I don't know if the Icon helmets will fit... but if I can find someplace that sells them, I'll have her try one on.
I thought about trying to find a helmet that I could buy extra padding for, but then she would have a big shell on a pin head. At least Shoei makes the shell of the helmet small to match the size of the persons head.
Again, thanks for all the ideas. And my wife thought you were all very mean people to poke fun at her, so keep up the good work  :thumb: :thumb:

If she would fit a XS, I have a HJC AC-11 in XS, silver/black/white. Never used. Bought for my now ex-gf, she pissed me off so I never took her for a ride.

My wife also has a little teeny head...  She was able to fit the Scorpion EXO-700 XS...  Although, the EXO-400s were too big...  The HJCs were HUGE on her...

It might be worth a try since the EXO-700 is $200. :dunno_white:
