well, i finally moved up from my hjc cl-12 to the above-mentioned vr-1.  in a word: fantastic.  first off, it's a much cooler shape.  it's lighter on my head.  it actually slices through the wind at speed, unlike the hjc which just hung my noggin out like a sail.  and the mirror shield i got satisfies the closet "cool-guy" in me.  just wanted to share my experience with y'all...
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 muscles to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

What size did you wear in the HJC CL-12 before and what size is the new one?  I assume you have the head shape of long from front to back?  I do and my CL-12 fits perfectly.  Just curious.  I wear a XXL in the CL-12 now.  It's hard to find enormous helmets like that from other companies.  Especially with the long oval shape.

i wore a large in the hjc and stayed with a large in the kbc.  the kbc large is a weeee bit larger than the hjc, at least on my skull.  of course i did shave my head just before switching over, so perhaps that has something to do with it...

The KBCs do tend to be larger. I'm a tight medium or a loose large in most brands but a pefect medium in my KBC Wolf (very similar to the VR-1).

Agreed, a better helmet with a good lining, but the noise factor is about the same as my Shoei RF900 which is now 4 years old and I was hoping for a quieter ride..probably not realistic without earplugs.
Don't follow my example and use your glove to wipe off a squashed bug; must have been a speck of grit on it

I wear some really cheap earplugs in my helmet if I'm going to be hitting highway speeds. They keep the wind from beating up my eardrum but I can still hear cars trying to kill me ;)
