I know the GS isnt a great bike for stunting so I dont do wheelies and stoppies on it.  Today however I have found out that it is good for doing a trick called "christ."  THis is simply where you stand up on your bike.  I have been reading on stunting forums and some people stand on the tank and others on the seat.  I prefer to put one foot on each because it just seems more stable that way.

Check out the picture I got my mom to take of my christ.  I get it going to about 40mph, so by the time I get up its going about 30.  I can stay up for about 6 seconds so far but I am only getting better.  At first I got it up to 30mph but found that once I got on the bike was going 20.  Now I am up on the bike and it is going 30mph and is pretty easy to balance.  When it slows down it gets harder to balance and I jump down once I feel that the instability.



Anyone else have experience with this trick?  care to offer any suggestions?  I know stunting is looked down upone by some but this stunt is probably the least harmful to your bike. 

how tall are you? 6'?

yea I am just about 6 foot maybe just half an inch less.

Whenever I'm riding with no hands, I just get into the right gear (usually a low gear to maintain proper speed) and turn the choke up all the way.  Kinda like a cruise-control.

She did have a heart attack.  I just told her to take a picture of me on my bike and then I stood up  .  She was very reluctant to take the picture but I finally persuaded here.  She likes the picture and even sent a copy to my sister!

christ looks better with both feet on one place, either tank or seat. best if you have your head cocked upward with arms splayed too..

if you do one foot on each, tank and seat move your arms so one is pointing forward and one half cocked back, like a karate kick...and lean forward bending your knee...

man, that looks scary.  On a public street too; what if one of the neighbor kids accidently rolls a soccerball into your path?  I must be getting old, that kind of stuff doesn't appeal to me at all.

Likewise. Or a Jesus figurine on a GS model, or something.

It seems harder to just put both feet on the tank or seat.  I was thinking it would be better if the gs had a single seat.  I will try to look forward next time but that seems to be even harder!  I will try to tilt my arms next time thought but i am not positive I will try this trick again.

try a highchair...

No worries, Im 16 and this doesn't apeal to me either. Looks dangerous. And for some reason I couldn't see this being fun.

I think stunts should only be done on empty streets away from pedestrians, or in parking lots. All should be done with proper safety gear, including gloves and at least jeans. I bought a clutch so that I can learn to do a few little stunts without worrying about tearing my clutch apart.

Ive done that but standing on my pegs and with the choke on it hepls out. I dont think I will try standing on the tank though. I do enjoy the ocassional 5 inch mini wheely when leaving a stoplight though.

Standing on the pegs? Psssh. Try going around curves without your hands on the bars!

is it still called a Christ if you're on the pegs? doesnt seem very challenging that way.

Nah its probly just called the "guy stands on pegs" or "wuss"

Promise me you'll post the pictures when he tries this stunt, falls and smashes up his bike (which eventually WILL happen - it always does.)
