there right with me.

exhaust is coming off for rewelds, then sand blasted and then pouder coat

engine will be droped out and explored by me to see what can be "tuned"   such as port and polish head, and larger carbs if even possable or needed for that mater.

tree (triple or what ever its called)   torn out and then i will hit the junk yard for a replacement, i want to "gasp"  try to uses a gsxr front end or what ever will fit or i will have it made to fit,      (theres nothing a torch and a welder cant do) i need somthing to test out that new tig welder any way.

then frame out to sand blast and pouter coat.

i would love to set up the rear like that one fell did so that it has only one swing arm.

she isn't going to be faster but she will look it and be faster in the corners   or so i hope.      plans plans plans

its still a hell of a loth cheaper than making my truck faster.

get some real lights
+1...

I tried to put on additional lights on my GS, but I still kept the stock headlight...  Looks a bit weird with the lights so low...  Any thoughts on safety there?

awwww... there you go, with your safety mumbo jumbo again.... some times I think you people just over think the whole safety thing some times. "Well should I go to smaller turn signals?" 'NO, because they're not safe'.... "Should I chop this sub frame off and build my own one?" 'No, because that could mess with the geometry of the bike and be unsafe' jeez... get over it, all of you safety freaks.

IMO this is more serious than the usual "Should I get smaller signals?"

Headlights pave the way in the darkness of the night, but also alert other drivers that you're actually there, unlike signals.

^yes.  They're unsafe.  You only think they're brighter than your stock light because you want to keep them...you think they're cool...you think they make your bike look like a streetfighter...so you try and find reasons to justify them.

There's a lot of reasons why you shouldn't use these; It's not legal, the beam doesn't extend far enough to give you safe distance at cruising speeds, they're a broad beam light (meaning they're offensve to on-coming traffic), they have blue lenses (meaning they have a coating that effectively reduces the amount of light those puny H3's produce), they'll be virtually useless in anything except pitch black (rain/fog/moonlight/dusk/dawn/etc forget it) and they simply look bad and make you look like a squid.  Come on...you replaced your headlight, a worldwide accepted SAFE piece of equipment for two beady fog lights that aren't approved for use by anyone except Wal-Mart.  They weren't even the GOOD foggies that would produce at least a smidgeon of effective lighting.

If you're going to slap on some different lights, do it right:

I'm sure BSD was joking.

in case this turns into a big "warrior" style gang fight. I got Makenzie's back on this one.

I am all for cutting a pasting your rides for a custom look. streetfighter, chopper, or ratbike. what ever

but unsafe is unsafe. I'd hate for some noob (with no taste) to think his lights are cool, and OK to use on a bike, go to wally world and not read the "not safe dumbass" signs on the box.

I like that there are some out there who would think safety first and caution us. I sure wouldn't. All I could think was how ugly it looked.

rangerbrown might not like it, and I sincerely hope feelings weren't hurt, but he did post it on a public forum.  tuff titty. :flipoff:

Hell, he might not even have realize their "unsafeness" until Mack pointed it out.

lights would look better if they were stacked. the oval lights dont look as good side by side as the round ones do, and even worse down low and spread apart like that. just my opinion.

No but really, I think those lights are absolutely ugly. It's not my bike though, therefore not my problem. Although, I'm not down with this whole "it makes you look like a squid" thing. I thought you were a squid if you ride unsafely and/or beyond your ability, don't ware proper gear, and only have a bike because you think it'll get you more chicks. Maybe putting a GSXR sticker on your GSF makes you a squid, like the motorcycle equivalent of a ricer, but I don't see how some crapy looking low mounted lights brings you to the same conclusion. If anything it makes you look less like a squid because squids only have the newest, nicest, shiniest and fastest bikes. Not some outdated 40hp slug, crowned with some ugly headlights. Just my 2 cents, ....am I banned yet?

I say that because:

They're not safe...for him or other traffic.  He's endangering far more than just himself, I don't know what a squid is if that's not.

I know guys who only run ONE of those types of lights (those exact ones). They're bright enough. Not legal, but plenty bright.

The lights look like they are mounted to the slider of the fork.  If that is the case they will be subject to a lot of vibrtion and the filament will have a very short life - move them to a "sprung wieght" part of the bike to get the benefit of the suspension smoothing the ride for the lights.

Still not going to be good out on the highway - too dim

I don't know what the laws are in your state, and I don't know what the law is regarding headlamps in my state, but I do know that the height requirement in CA for tailights is that it must be mounted higher than 12" above the street surface.
