blown gs500 pit bike. finished product should be over 600bhp per ton. just need to know if the engine will fit :dunno_white:

So you're using a GS 500 and your putting a bigger motor in it?  A supercharged motor? <sits forward>

What do you mean by 600 hp/ton?

ill be turbocharching the GS 500 lump. ive worked out that a smart car turbo is more than ample for the gs500 lump. below calculations are assuming engines are running 100% VE which they obviously arent but the figures would still say the same thing if both were running at 80% VE:

smart car
no of cylinders: 3
Bore: 63.5mm
stroke: 63.0mm
Compression ratio: 9.5:1
CID = 36.525738188976 inch^3
CFM = 55.486147422489583333333333333333 @ 5250rpm

suzuki gs500
no of cylinders: 2
bore: 74.0mm
stroke: 56.6mm
compression ratio: 9.0:1
CID = 29.709792143364 inch^3
CFM = 79.088567048306944444444444444444 @ 9200rpm

granted there will be a lot of lag but it will still produce a very nice amount of power once spooled up. ill be using suck though as opposed to blow through as space is a big concern and setting up carbs with a blow through system will be a mission to say the least. id expect the engine to be producing around 55-60bhp once completed. with the bike weighing in at less than 100kg. but to keep things simple say the bike weighed exactly 100kg and produced exactly 60bhp then it would be producing 600bhp per ton, obviously that would drop to not far off half with rider weight but thats still a whole load of power.

Ah, I see.  There are two turboed GS's that I know of.  You can find them on this board.

The one turboed GS I've seen was putting out 56HP with 5 lbs of boost and 79HP with 15 lbs of boost.

awesome stuff, think ill be having a good read of this. cheers

Find a compressor map for the turbo you intend to use.  There's a big difference between 55CFM and 79CFM.  I suspect you'll be operating well outside the island of efficiency for the smart car turbo.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Isn't that just a different way to talk about power to weight ratio?....I've heard it used on Top Gear before  :dunno_white:
