What's the inlet size on the stock muffler?

I'm looking at making the collector and new muffler 57~60mm with 45mm runners off the ports.

I don't even know how to measure. Stock F or stock E? I can measure the F tomorrow evening if you tell me what to do.

that laser exhaust looks alot like the stock with a different badge.  Can anyone tell from specs whats different.  That dyno they have on there site cracks me up.. 160,000 rpm gets you 41 horse?  i thought my stock bike hit 43 horse at 8,500 rpm? lol.

nick_villan

hey u guys i found it called the dealer in new york, which is the only one who actually carries the exhaust. its a full system it will give like 4 hp and they are on sale for like 450 shipped. just figured id share that info since everyones info here is really usefull.

100 is practically the top speed. Why do you NEED to go faster than that? The basic mods are filter, exhaust, and jetting. If you want a higher top speed you'd be better off just buying a higher powered bike. Just live with a top speed of 100, you don't need to go faster than on the street really. Save the racing for the track.

Mak, I'll drop you a PM.

i don't get how other gs's have problems going over 100...
FK5 / SM2 / 15t / 41t / sv650 shock ... -->GSX-R600k7
Steez...

makenzie71

Mostly it's jetting and impropper tune.  To get these low displacement bikes up to an exciting speed you need to have a really healthy bike.

Top speed is roughly 115 indicated, which means it's really about 103 actual.

I thought the E model exhausts would NOT fit an F cause of the oil cooler bolts...

Makenzie - Your offer is SOOOOOOOOO temping!  But alas...  I'm back in school, so my full time job is supporting my part time school...

That's what I thought too until I took my old '92 exhaust and stuck it onto my bike. The only reason the aftermarket ones don't fit is because the two pipes merge before bending down under the bike. The stock ones bend, then merge.

See how the pipes come together and then bend down together? That hits right where the oil bolts are.

The stock E exhaust on an F has the same shape, allowing the pipes to clear the oil pan bolts.

A long time ago somebody on the board tried to mount a cobra f1 slip-on designed for an E onto an F model. If I remember right there was a difference in diameter of the two pipes.

That was when the F first came out and I believe about the same time srinath started making flanges.

my exhaust would merge under the bike.  I like longer runners.  You have to wring the piss out of shorties to really utilyze they're power-delivery and the GS isn't that kind of bike.

Wait, you said the oil cooler and he said the oil pan. Are we sure we got that figured out?

Eh, I refer to the oil cooler as the system of the cooling radiator, the hoses, the bolts, and the oil pan. It's the oil cooling system. The oil pan is at the bottom of the engine and the bolts holding the lines there are what get in the way.

Right, I understand what you mean. I wasn't near a picture so I couldn't picture where the oil cooler that comes on the F models was mounted. That could have caused an exhaust clearance issue if it were low enough, but I think it's up and out of the way.

I just was making sure that person's question and your answer were on the same page.
