getting my new bike tomorrow, and its not quite yet the riding season. I'll have to store it for hopefully less than a month, but at least a few weeks. Do you guys recommend doing any winterizing stuff?

- it won't be ridden, but most likely will be started a few times... (i can't have this new toy in my garage and not play with it once and a while...  )

any suggestions?

thanks

I'm not sure about the winterization, but you shouldn't start her up at all.  In order for the battery to get a proper charge, the engine needs to be at around 5K rpm.  if you only start her up once a week, but not take her for a spin, the battery will drain.

Hi Mike,
It will be fine for a month to sit without winterizing it.
You can take the battery out and put it on a trickle charger if you want, that would be a good thing to do to keep the battery fresh.
I agree with Ann -- starting it up and not riding it will not help keep the battery charged -- and in addition, it will also not allow the engine to burn off the water vapor created by starting it up and running it for only a short time. The water vapor is caused from the heat of the combustion reacting to the cold metal and oil, etc. By riding it and getting it up to normal operating temperature, that vapor burns off. By starting it up and not fully warming it up, the water vapor or condensation stays on internal and external engine parts and in your oil, which is not desired because of corrosion and oil degradation.
Good luck,
