I need help dismounting my CHAIN!!

If it is the original endless chain, you have to remove the wheel, the little rear cover on the left of the engine, and the swingarm. Or you can break the chain with a chain breaker or grinder, and put a master link in for the link you took out.

Are you just trying to clean it? That can be done on the bike with some kerosene and a cheap paint brush. Messy but it works. You should likely remove the little rear cover from the engine, and clean that area too.

Don't use so much chain lube! I'm using none on my race bike, just to see how an o-ring chain will hold up. I just clean it with WD40. Second season, so far, so good.

If it is a clip type master link, removing it is easy. Yoy just have to check the sides of all the links for the one with the clip - it will be pretty obvious. The clip is just a flat piece of spring steel that snaps into grooves on the pins of a special link. Just pry it off lenghthwise, and remove the master link.

Assembly really sould use a special tool to compress the o-rings so that the clip can be put back on (closed end in the direction of the chain travel), but some c-clamps can be made to work.

If it is a rivited master link, it isn't quite so easy to find or ondo. If you look at the protruding ends of the pins, you should find one that has hollow ends that have been rolled over. All the normal ones will be solid. Once you find it, you have to grind off the ends of the hollow pins, until the side plate of the link can be removed.

Assembly requires a new master link, either a clip one as above, or another riveted one. A rivet type does require a chain riveter to assemble.

My last chain instructions actually said the waranty is void if you use pliers or vice grips to compress the side plate. Can't remember the brand...

which do you guys prefer? Chain lube or Chain wax? I have wax, but I don't work my bike really hard. (I don't race) I just cruise on the twisties at a good rate.
