Uni filter jetting.

OK, so I've tried fiddling with the jetting since putting a Uni filter in the airbox but just haven't been able to get it right.  So, I've taken it right back to stock (well, almost) and am hoping for some inspiration on a likely ballpark starting point.  I have a 2001 with the stock pipe and V&H ignition advancer.  The main jet is a 115 and I took it up to 127.5 without any obvious difference in the top end (ie it didn't go real well but at least it would run).  I raised the needles as far as they would go and it ran OK in the midrange (bit of a stutter at constant throttle at 6000rpm) but used a hell of a lot more fuel.  Any tips on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated.

In the US the stock jetting on the 2001 is a 17.5 pilot jet (different style than earlier bikes) , 127.5 main and a third jet that is a "secondary" main. - don't remember the size off hand.  There are no adjustment slots on the needle.  Mine was very lean stock - simply removing the plugs over the pilot fuel screws and turning them out to between 3 and 3.5 turns helped the warm-up and idle problems.  Raising the needles with one washer (about the same as one adjustment slot) also helped.  Going to a 132.5 main helped a lot.  This was all with no other changes.  Adding K&N pod filters left me needing richer mains - ended up at 140 - and added another washer.  Added a Cobra F1R slip-on and have experimented with 152.5 and 150 mains.  With the 152.5 mains it runs better in cold weather, needs the pilot screws turned in a bit ans one washer removed.  Seems to run a bit rich at full throttle if it gets above 90 Fahrenheit.  With the 150 it needs more choke, the two washers and seems to have a bit less power at high RPM.  Plugs are light tan either way.  Someday I will install an oxegen sensor or take it to a dynamometer and find out which it should be.
