Stage III jetting?

I was wondering how much of a difference a stage 3 jet had over the usual stage 1? Also will a stage 3 make it non-street legal? Should I also assume that a different air filter and exhaust will need to be purchased as well to make it effective?

Well, a stage III kit will require an aftermarket exaust, and airfilter. You'll probably want to go with the clamp-on pod filters since they offer less restrictive air flow. Beware! This will not fit in your stock air box! It will be susceptable to rain and surface water.
It all depends on how you drive it, and what you want out of your bike. The Stage I will give about a 5% increase in power. The Stage III, closer to 10-12%. Do you value gas mileage? Drivability? I personally think that if your just doing street riding, there is no reason to have a stage III.

I agree with Anti. That being said. I ride my Stage 3 bike on the street.

Why did I go stage 3? When I had wrecked the bike and my pipe was a bit messed up and I wanted a new pipe. I wanted to clean the carbs while I was doing winter projects too. So Since I was going to have all that apart and needed to rejet for the pipe anyway I decided to go with the K&N kit with filter, breather, and DynoJet Stage 1/3 kit. The only differance in the Dynojet kit between the stage 1 and the stage 3 is the size of the main jets.

I didn't need to do all this, and it in fact kept me off the bike a little into spring until I figured out that I had re-assembled the slides and needles incorrectly. A stage 1 kit isn't a bad idea because it makes the bike more predictable throught the throttle and therefore safer in low traction situations.

That's my two cents.
