Been a while since I been here.  Just wanted to share my "other new" bike with you guys.  Got rid of the GS500f last year and the YZF600R...now i'm a modding fool with this one.  SV650S '04 - its not as powerful as your I4's but the throttle is a lot more consistent.  Not to mention this bike flicks like the GS if not better.

she got a fat ass..

Thats a really nice bike.  I am going to move up to an SV at some point.  Unsure whether i am going to go for the 650s or the 1000s but eventually i will move up.  I figure if something happens soon i will get the 650 but if all goes as planned and I drive the GS intot he groound I will get the 1000 and just baby it.  That is one pretty bike though, enjoy it.

thanks! hopefully when the weather gets nicer i can get rid of the chicken strips left by the previous owner.  I got it for 4g's which i think is a great deal.  only 2k miles and still has a year of warrantee.

That is a great deal.   I like the SV.
How was the YZF600R?  Is that a good bike?  Was it fun to ride and reliable?
Thanks!

It was a good bike as far as riding it. It was a little bit on the heavy side imo and wasn't as manuverable as the gs or sv.  You really had to put a little bit of force on it while leaning.  I dunno, It was a little too low for me, and it just wasn't for me since i'm 5'10".  Gave it to my ex-gf and she didn't like it either...she now rides an R6.  It was fast though, faster than the SV.  Maintenance wise it was a bit of a pain in the arse, if you ever had to do or check anything engine wise the ENTIRE fairing has to come off.  No easy access.  On the plus side, they are cheap when bought used, i've seen a lot of newer ones for under 4k which are a steal.

Was it good for touring?  Were there many aftermarket parts available?
Sorry for the thread jack.  As you can see, I'm in the market.

i think that's why i got rid of it.  it was more for touring and not twisty riding due to its weight.  i was literally exhausted after a couple of hours of twisty riding while when i was on my gs, 3 hours and i was still fresh and craving some more.

aftermarket wise there's plenty of stuff for it.  first thing you might wanna do is upgrade the rear shock, its a bit soft.  i weigh 170 lbs and it was soft for me.

Excellent choice of bike!  :thumb:

Did you do the rear fenderectomy, or was it already done when you purchased it?

I'm larger than that, so I suspect you're correct.  So that may be a problem.   Thanks for the four one one.

its a custom undertail.  its made out of thick plastic material...black.  then i just mounted a license plate mount by drilling holes on it.  i used a template for the back from a website but now i can't find the site.  :dunno_white:
