I always thought it was funny that a nation with a zero-tolerence ban on firearms was home to the gun-crime capitol of the western hemisphere... :2guns: :2guns:

Toronto isn't the gun-crime capitol of the western hemisphere is it?

I know there is a crap load of shootings going on around these street lately though. Makes me wanna move out the country, pick up a couple of dirt bikes, jet ski's and snowmobiles and live out my life happy.  :icon_mrgreen:

That toy gun ban is the stupidest thing ever. First of all, who's going to enforce it? What officer is gonna give a ticket to a 3 year old kid? Giving it their parents is stupid. Then what about those 12year old kids who go to the $1 store and buy realistic cap guns? Gonna give them a ticket? Ok ok, that aside. The ban then goes on to say that it's only effective for people under 18. So the kinds who are harmless can't have toy guns because they could be mistaken for real guns, but teenagers can have replica/toy guns so they can use them to rob convenient stores? What a F***ing waist of time creating this ban/bill/whatever it is. If you're going to do a ban, ban them entirely from the city, so NO ONE can have them.

It's a legal open carry state.  As long as I don't go into alcohol serving establishments, schools, post offices or Federal buildings I can legally carry.

With all the shaZam! that goes on only 2 miles away from here (and all through So. Phoenix) there's no friggin way I wouldn't carry.  I'm not going to go down like a lemming.
. as long as az res. ( i was one) had glock 21, as long as visible and as long as you can legally own said weapon. you can. lol, i did on my way to work every day, saved a lot of time. went through ghetto instead of around it :2guns:

In Missouri you can carry concealed weapons (with the usual restrictions, courts, post offices, police stations, schools, etc).

So anyone can be packing heat and you wouldn't know.  Hence the "concealed" part of the statute.  It is just wild.

Does anyone know of any studies or statistics out there comparing non-carrying states, concealed-carrying states, and non-concealed-carrying states? Would be very interesting to know whether or not there's a difference in the crime rates (as well as whether there's a difference in the severity of the crimes that do occur)...

I was wondering that Pandy.  Missouri passed the  conceal and carry statute about a year ago.  It passed by a LANDSLIDE!  Welcome to the Bible Belt, where we care about three things: guns, morals, and God.  There wasn't even any debate about it.  And nobody cares to see statistics, either, because no studies have been done.  At least none have been released.  We still had like 130 murders in Kansas City, Missouri last year.  But mostly in neighborhoods were you carry a gun illegally.  It is pretty much business as usual.

Arizona is an open carry state. Handguns should be holstered when not actually in use to avoid issues related to brandishing or questions regarding the concealed nature of the firearm. The law states that as long as a portion of the holster is visible, the weapon is not concealed. It is recommended that at least 2-3 inches of the holster be visible. Fanny packs designed to carry a handgun do not qualify as a holster; only permit holders may carry a weapon in a fanny pack (State v. Moerman).

An unholstered handgun carried by a non-permitee which is only partially visible is considered concealed, hence the recommendation to keep carried handguns holstered. Weapons carried in a vehicle that are not in a holster or case must be clearly visible and obvious, unless the weapon is in the trunk, glove box or a storage compartment of the vehicle (see comment under Car/Gun law summary). Weapons may be transported/carried loaded or unloaded. Open carry is generally discouraged on tribal lands (see discussion under "Places off-limits while carrying"). Other locations may be posted "no weapons" or be covered under State or Federal law (see above).

so whats the point of being able to carry a gun or not? or what's the point of banning weapons or not? I really don't understand how government can be so slow to understand this one...

after all, is not like criminals would care if there's a law that prohibits guns.
Caturday yet?

Thanks for that. It amazes me how relaxed you guys are with your gun laws over there.  :2guns:

It goes back over 200 years here.  The British didn't allow us Yanks to carry weopons.  So after we ran them out of here, we made sure that we had the right to bear arms for all of eternity.

Why, I myself have owned a semi-automatic rifle since I was a pup, just knee high to a grasshopper.  And I'm a democrat!
