I drove her home over the course of yesterday and today, can't wait for this Sunday and I'll get some serious saddle time without any numbness.   What do you all think?

What do I think? I think you need some custom paint!

I always heard the Speed Four was nothing compared to the Speed3. I'd say take those tube things off the frame and you are set! :thumb:

I agree, those ram-air tubes are ugly as sin; paint them flat-black (or semi-gloss, whatever matches), and that should help them blend into the background a little better. If you're not sure how it will look, photochop it first...

Other than that, I think you're going to have a lot of fun when the weather turns nice... just ride safely, and don't be a stranger here...

I always heard the Speed Four was nothing compared to the Speed3.

The Speed Triple is my dream bike, but comparing the two is apples and oranges.  The triple is a 1050cc inline 3 and this is a 599cc inline 4.  The Speed 4 is a race bike without the fairings, it stomped all the other naked competitors, Honda 599, FZ6, etc. and the Speed 3 is flirting with being a naked sport tourer.  Look at the difference in the bars between the two.  After I'm done with school, I'm going to pick up the Speed Triple, but for now this is my baby.

Pablo, thanks man, I'll check that out.  I saw one of your posts about the S4 while researching it.

Cheers!

I looked at Triumph's web site and they don't have the Speed Four on there.  But I looked on Cycletrader and there are lots of '06 Speed Fours.  What gives?

BTW, that bike is YARRRR!

I like the color a lot--I even like the intakes a lot  :dunno_white:

I thought they stopped making this guy for 2006, Triumph dropped all things 4 cylinder in favor of their lovely 3 cyl. and twins.  Not sure why they would have 2006 Speed Fours on Cycletrader.  I like the green personally, you should see it in the sunlight,  it's certainly noticable.  Anyway, thanks for the opinions/compliments everyone, I won't be a stranger around here, I haven't ridden a GS in 2 years now, but still frequent!   :thumb:

Great bike - except for the color   Just kidding.

I've got a 2004 "Racing Yellow" one, I just couldn't pass up the price.  It's definitely an attention getter.  The intakes have grown on me.  I used to think they were ugly, now they give the bike a distinctive look.

But "ugly" is in the eye of the beholder.  I'd have to see it in person -- in sunlight -- to be overly critical.  I'd classify it as a "wild thang".   :thumb:

The riding position isn't far removed from the GS, a little more sporty, but not bad.  I'm a big guy (6'2" 220lbs) and I don't feel cramped though.  I'd have her sit on it before she casts it off, and if you can get a good deal, even better.

I'd love to take some pics of me on it, but it's snowing like a Buddha Loves You out today... I hate waiting!!!

I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam, and I can't flat-foot the bike.  The only other S4 I've seen had a 5'2" rider, but she had the bike lowered, so it's doable.

The first time I saw one I immediately wanted to know what it was, and where I could get one.  But the looks don't appeal to everybody, which is probably why they are available for so cheap.
