little sister gs500f has left her big sister zrx1200r, only to have cousin sv650s to move in...

it's a good thing i do.

when i bought the gs500f new in 2005, it was a leftover 2004 - so i got a good price on her from the dealer.

when i traded her in for the sv650s there was a 2006 red (which i REALLY liked) and a 2005 yellow. i went with the yellow since there were no changes in the newer 2006 model except the color.

if i chose the red it would have been much more in price. i rode out of the dealer w/ trade in paying $3628usd.

i was so set on getting the red i went out and bought a new red tracksuit and red shoei helmet. oh well, i still have all my yellow gear...

Glad everything worked out for ya.

Why don't you stick around?  Even tho you don't have the GS anymore, you could still contribute.

I can't remember who said this;  "Once a GStwin member, always a member.

Nice  bike.  enjoy it, and don't sweat the break-in period too much.  Just get 'er out on the highway two or three times for a few hours and you're done.  Besides, many agree that the low-revs break in technique isn't applicable to newer bikes.  I'd say go easy, but flog it every now and then and have some fun too  ;)

congrats! and yes, flog it. I am realizing now, that I have 10,000+ miles on my RR that it makes some pretty good power compared to when new. I credit that to natural breaking in but also to my riding it like I intended to ride it all along. Dont be gentle...enjoy!

Ya gotta love a YELLOW bike.  Nice (and very noticable) choice.  Enjoy and ride safe.

I've thought about trying to get an '04 F and taking the fairing off of it...  Then I realized that I'm really cheap.

When I saw the title of the thread and the author, I was like ugh! But I am glad you are just saying goodbye to your GS, and not the GS community.  :thumb:

And for what it is worth, I would have bought the yellow over the red too. Sharp looking bike, looks like a lot of fun. (Are you bringing the SV to the meet?)
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.
