Let me start by saying that I don't promote street racing, but every now and then you must live a little even if it kills you! Last night a Subaru WRX Sti pulled up next too me at a red light, he had more mods on his car than my GS probably cost$, so he starts revving it up( fart can sounding like crap) the light turns green, I had a great reaction time, first time I really wide opened my new 05 ,after 3rd top out I had to look back too see where WRX was. Well he was way back and hurting, some smoke was comming up from under the hood. So I went back to see if his girl needed a ride or something (ha-ha). What had happend is that he had done some very supid mods to his engine like NOS, and  with a computer tune-up program that basically took out the rev limiter (duh) He blew something away, but not me.
( GS500F  I won --- WRX is now nothing )  and  I don't think his daddy is going to like it- me on the other hand I'm loving it! :2guns:
Being naked was great, but now that I'm older I thought I should cover up!!!!

Mods?  What mods, no really its stock!!

Maybe next time he'll know better than to challege a bike.

Now the trick will be getting all the parts taken off before he makes his warranty claim.  What a jackass.  Hey, here is a $30,000 sports car.  Maybe you shouldn't void the warranty just yet.

  :laugh:yeah really.  There are a lot of those cruising around here.  It would be close with a stock STi.  It would come down to who shifts faster more than likly.  That is where the GS would rain supreme

I got some guy in a 3000GT VR-4 that was pretty sweet.  Pulled a wheelie off the light and yeah it was great.  Him and the girl in the car with him both gave me the thumbs up.  I was pretty pleased with myself.

Waste of a perfectly good car.  I'd love to have one of those, bone stock.

i love my gs, but a stock sti (low to flat 13's) with a reasonal driver could out drag our bikes without too much fuss.  easy now guys.

Street drag is for Riceburners and Nascar loving Rednecks. The twisties is where it is baby! Touching the hands of God in the mountains, riding his c0(k on the straights.

I have to agree the twisties are where its at but not too many good roads here in Kansas .  Watching two d-bags in riced out civics and cavaliers rev up at the light in front of you then taking off between them does come pretty close though  :)  too bad I couldnt see their faces.

I get a lot of riceburners pull up next to me and rev their engines. Even tho I've only got a 500cc bike, I feel sorry for the pricks that think they can beat me on the city roads.

Yeah, what he said.  If he knew what he was doing and if his car was working the way god intended, he'd smoke you.

He'd smoke you there too.  That's probably not true for many cars, but it's definitely true for the STi.  G-forces are are a pain for most cars, but not all.  Definitely not this one.

Who cares though.  You've still got a ride that's a ton more fun even while doing the speed limit.  And with the money you saved you could buy half a dozen more of'em.

Hey guys, you know how everyone bashes ricers or low end type racers (civics, cavaliers, probes and such) well they're kinda the bottom end of the totem pole when it comes to fast cars... they do what they can with the budget they have available (now I'm talking about true modified cars for performance here, not ones modified purely for looks or ones who slap on a tin can muffler and call it a performance mod :cookoo: )... anyways what I'm getting at is that they have a not so expensive car cause thats what they have to work with, and they do what they can... to compare them to more expensive cars or to true sport cars is just unfair, it would be like compairing our bikes to say, a Gixxer1000... see what I'm gettin at... we're at the bottom of the totem pole too
Now I'm not bringing our GS's down at all, I love my bike. I'm just saying that you shouldn't be so quick to judge that's all...

That's just my two cents :dunno_white:

About a month ago I was at a red light with a brand spankin' new red Ferrari next to me in Rowland Heights, CA.  He didn't rev his engine but I knew he wasn't about to let anyone beat him out of the blocks so when the light turned green I took off & he was right there next to me.  I know he coulda dusted me if he wanted but my guess is he was still breaking-in his engine  :icon_rolleyes:

The thread started out talking specifically about a straight line pull between these 2 machines.  While there are a ton of other comparison points that any machine is subject to, in this particular context of straight line acceleration, the sti has an advantage over the gs, contrary to what was originally suggested and agreed upon.  Ironically straight line isn't what the sti is all about anyways - have you been 9/10th's in an sti in a tight short track and exprienced the mind boggling lateral g's it can put out?

Once the factual realization is considered, we start drawing on other redeeming qualities, unrelated to the original context.  That approach is true and can be done for any vehicle in any comparison.

No need to get insecure or defensive about our beloved gs's - they are what they are and can be appreciated for that - not pretend they're something they're not - it only makes swallowing the pill tougher, when faced with an objective outlook, which in itself can be avoided all together by just keeping it real.

I agree.  I've driven STI's, if that guy could drive worth a crap and didn't bugger up his car he could have walked all over the GS.

So true out of all the four banger ricer's out there this is one of a very few that most definitly should of had me, thats why I had to share my story.
