Yes, there is supposed to be a hole.

What happened this time? Don't feel too bad, though. I laid my old '92 down a bunch. Once on the first day in a corner because of diesel fuel and sand, another time in a parking lot due to wet pavement and rain, and then the big one that totaled the bike.

ok, next question

if I were going to straighten out the front end, (its alittle tweaked) I can't just losen all  of the bolts on the tripples and stragten it out because the weight of the bike would cause the tubes to slide up in the tripples when loosend. whats the best way to go about doing this? put it on the center stand and have somone sit on the back, then lossen all the bolts and straighten it out?

Exactly as you described.

Doesn't make you stupid that you laid it down again, just try to pull something from it, even if it is an easier way to pick it up.

Correct.  You only have to loosen three; these will all pivot around the fourth, however it is still a good idea to prop up the front after loosening two of the bolts (I suggest one upper one and the opposite lower 14mm; and use a 13.5 inch long 2x4 to put under one of the case-half bolts, in between the exhaust headers, right above the oil filter cover).

Don't forget the fork brace screws, this holds the front end in the tweaked position too.  Put bike on centerstand, loosen all 4 fork brace screws and 3 of the 4 triple clamp screws and it will go back in place if it's going to.  Easily done by yourself and no need to prop up the front end.

thanks alot guys. I'm gonna go try that now.

one more questiion. in terms of putting on new grips. can I use any grip that will fit a 7/8" bar? say for instance a set for a gsxr or somthing?

RVertigo I was looking at getting some of those online. Is the outside diameter any larger than stock? I'm guessing they are pretty comfortable being gel grips and all, but are they a big improvement from stock?

They're not MUCH bigger than stock, but they are bigger.  They're more sticky and a little softer 'cause they're gel.

I can swing by so you can check 'em out if you want to see 'em first hand.

Bluebellylint

Sure if you dont have anything better to do, I'm at work. Don't feel obligated though I could see them some other time. :thumb:

What's the diff between 724 and 719? is it just the Inner Diameter? and how much should I look to pay for a set?

I think the 724s are closed ended, but you can cut the end out.

I think the main difference is the look...  The 719s look more sporty IMO.

The 724s come in both open and closed end versions. I have the open ended ones. And I think the 724s look WAY better!  :icon_razz: :flipoff:
