During the colder weather, I usually have to ride WITH the choke on for a couple minutes before I can release the choke and ride normal.  This is normal for our GSs

Makes sense...  When I'm using the choke, it does make the engine either richer or leaner (I'm not sure which), so the fuel/air ratio for better power is lost.

TadMC: That power gain is imaginary. All the idle screw does is put a stop to the minimum opening of the butterflies. As soon as you start to accelerate its influence is nil.
