I'm trying to run my tank as  empty as possible after putting Stabil in last November. Right now I'd guess I've got about a quart left in the tank, and occasionally at RPM below about 4K, it stumbles. I don't know if these engine "hiccups" are due to the Stabil or the fact that I'm almost running on empty. I've never used Stabil in my '89 before this, so I don't know if this performance degradation is attributable to this additive. BTW, the carbs were just cleaned last year.
It's not how fast you go, rather "how" you go fast!

Amount of gas ... That's a little personal dont you think ...
Anyway I seem to like have more if I have eaten mexican the night before ...
The spicy hot habanero stuff ... oh yea ... though I have heard its not bringing in gas from outside ... its just releasing what is already there ... so there you have it ... what is comming in isn't important ... just how well its released is vital ... OK ...
BTW Why do they call it "Burrrrrrr ... eeethho"
Cool.

2005 F here, no mods.   60 MPG average.  I've only run into reserve one time, at 226 miles.    I'm just in the habit of hitting a gas station around 200 miles, which takes about 3.2 gallons.

Suzuki upped the size of the gas tank...not sure what year.   Current model runs 5.3 gallons I think, and older GS's are smaller.
On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

50 mpg typically, so around 200 miles to reserve.
For a long trip, you can stuff the tank a little bit.

If I'm on open highway, I run it till it coughs.  If I'm dealing with traffic, I'll switch over at 180 and plan on filling within 20.

About how far do you get on the highway till you need to switch?

Typically around 200.  Depends how precise I am when I fill up.  Bike runs more consistent than my filling procedure.  I stuffed the tank and ran 197 fast miles in high wind and never hit reserve.  So there is apparently a good volume in the air space.  I thought I hit reserve once at 90 miles, but it was just starvation from the vacuum fuel valve.

bike on the way back from Michigan got to 115 miles when the reserve kicked in.  Highway miles.  It was cold, though.

The other day it happened at 70.  But I'm in city traffic now, and I was riding with the choke on (because I'm a newbie).

Seems this is a bit low.  Any thoughts?
Keep in mind that these people are talking about the F model which has a bigger tank than the E model

I topically get 11X miles before switching to reserve and then fill up 2.6 gallons at the pump. That's short city trips

alright mine's a 2005 F model with a 20 litre tank.

I will usually fill up between 300 and 350 km's (not using reserve)

I usally average 3.5 - 4.5 litres for every 100kms depending how I ride.

When I take it real easy I have managed 3L/100kms.  :thumb:

(The manual says the bike has a 4.3 litre reserve)
