I'm trying to find a clever spot on my GS to attach my disc lock while riding so i don't have to put it in a backpack, or the tankbag which i haven't bought yet...

Any ideas?

my bike is a GS500F

But then wouldnt it be just as easy to put it in a tankbag or a backpack???

One of my buddies has a little leather pouch that straps onto his swingarm and he sticks it in there. Its a pretty small pouch and you can't really put anything more in there once you've put the lock in it.

I don't have a tankbag yet - and i don't really want to ride around with a backpack to haul a lock around town

hmm, that's a good idea, maybe i'll make some sort of pouch and see if i can fit it under the seat with the toolkit as someone mentioned in the thread. I'll post pics if i figure out something useful

It will, but its heavy and akward.

I looked at the tour master site - the super mini is kind of cool

Just wondering when I was looking at a disk lock it came with a pouch that had a velcro fastener.  The sales person told me it fastens to the middle of the handle bars.  Unless you have clip on's I guess.  :dunno_white:  Or as seen in a previous post get one of these

Even if the voices aren't real they have some good ideas.

Super mini is too effing small to do any good. The mini magnetic has been perfect for me - can fit gatorade, spare helmet shield, all kinds of other random crap, and has a map pocket. JMHO.

That's how I kept mine.  I don't use it anymore though.  I'm am not in the metro ATL area anymore and around here most stolen bikes are of high dollar value.  REALLY high dollar value.

o'course my bike will be stolen tonight. now that I 've jinxed myself. :o

What, you lay her down! :icon_confused:

if so, that can be bad for your bike as the oil can pool in unwanted spots and can cause damage to your engine when you start it if you don't allow it to drain back into its sump first.

The Luma Xmart linked earlier in this thread looks pretty cool.  It is "stored" on your bike as a footpeg.  You take it off to use it as a disc lock.  If you forget and try to ride off without taking the lock off, you'll know as soon as you try to shift gears.  Pretty clever.

I did a quick search and it's also available in the US, here.

How do people steal bikes? I assume that some can just lift them into the bed of a pickup or something, but do thieves also have some way to hotwire the engine?

I can't imagine hot wiring the GS being all the hard.  Actually, if you know what you are doing its probably super easy

I'd have to agree. Looking at the wiring diagram, it doesn't look that hard at all.

Yes, they could lift the bike onto a truck or ute (pickup) but having the wheel locked makes manouvering it a real pain in the but. And these bikes aren't light!

My disk lock (Xena) also has a movement sensor and a 100db alarm! Give me time to get my  :2guns: out.
