Would a broken lever tip cause me to fail inspection?

My bike got blown over, yes the wind SUCKS here, tonight and snapped off the very tip of my brake lever. I'm planning on replacing it very soon, but I've got to take my MSF course even sooner. Does anyone know if they'll still let me ride?  :dunno_white:

BTW ... meaning no offense, but I hate Oklahoma ...

Thanks again, Scott  :thumb:

Are they making you ride your own bike at the MSF???

cyclin-scott

I'm sure. This is a MSF course on a military base. I don't think Uncle Sam is supplying the even the gas. Let alone the ride.

ditto. How the hell are you supposed to get your bike to the practice area? Trailor it or get someone else to ride it for you? Cause you can't ride it yet!  :nono:

On the MSF couse I took, I got to ride a Buell Blast... Now THAT was fun! Everyone else was on crappy littl 125cc low rider lookin peices of junk, and I was one of few allowed to ride the Buell's cause of previous riding experience  :thumb:

in texas your bike should be legal to pass a state inspection with the lever end missing,we mainly check for lights and signals and tire condition, might be a little more involved on a base if the mps are checking, :thumb:wouldnt hurt to ask at the base for a handout with the specs.

Thanks fordtech ....

Also, just for those wondering ... the military does offer a one-time free-bie in that you can ride your bike over to the MSF class/ course the day-of. I didn't think it made since either, but I'm not that concerned. I've been riding around my apartments and the little neighborhood behind just trying to get used to the feel.

I think what I'm feeling most retarded about is I guess I'm not understanding/ remembering the gearing. I seem to get confused as to where I'm at in the gears.

To my knowledge, you will NOT be allowed to ride your personal motorcycle in the MSF BRC class, not even on a military base. They DO supply the motorcycles, helmets, AND the gas, paid for under Morale and Recreation funding. Back in the middle 1980's, the Dept. of Defense realized that far too many servicemembers were being killed or injured while riding due to lack of proper motorcycle training, and the problem was addressed by requiring MSF BRC skills training on each post; IIRC, motorcycles cannot even be registered (and therefore can't be RIDDEN) on post until the owner has proof of MSF BRC completion. Each command was required to ALLOW motorcycles to be ridden as transportation, even though many commanders tried to ban the use of motorcycles completely.

Bottom line is, you need to call the post if you have any questions about this, but I'm willing to bet they'll provide the same gear every other MSF class provides...

heres a couple pennies.

here on ft. Rucker.  I took the ERC and I brought my little yella GS. both levers missing the little ball end.  and no mirrors.

when you are put on the list for the course, you just print it out and the guards will allow you on post w/o  post registration and w/o the MSF card but only for that saturday.

MP'S won't pull you over unless your not wearing the proper gear or breaking the law.

I wouldn't worry to much about that it will come with time.  just play nice with the clutch for now. if you release nice and slow the bikes reaction will tell you  if it doesn't like the gear your in.

My wife was relly concerned with knowing what gear she was in and
it kept distracting her from keeping the bike upright...sheeesh :dunno_white:

LMAO
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof, is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools....

Thanks to advances in automation, Nike shoes will be made by robots. Unfortunately, the robots will be made by children in Malaysia.

Come on now ... he did say "fix" the fine automobiles (implying they were broke-ass in the first place!)

Thanks guys for all your help. I've completed the MSF and I think my noobie-ism is deminishing by the day. I ride everyday to work now, and since the MSF course is on base and on my way to work, I stop by and do about 5 min. of practice a day.

... still haven't replaced that damn brake lever though ... oh well, it still stops!
