Hello,

I restored my first street bike over the winter (Kawasaki 350 triple 2 stroke) and it has chambers and race stuff on it, and now that the season is here, i cannot ride it, because it is too loud for the subdivision i live in, and i aint switching it over to stock pipes, one because they are ugle, 2 because they are the crappiest 2 stroke pipe ever made, and 3, because you cant find stock pipes in decent shape cheap.

So, at the cycle salvage I work at, there is a 2005 GS500F that was an accident victim, the fairing was broken and the headlight shell, the birdcage was bent, and the speedo was broken. Before I buy this bike, what will it cost to put a used speedo and idiot lights on it and run it as a naked bike until i can fix the fairing (i am pretty decent at fiberglass and body work)

Thanks for the input,

Curtis

You can get all the E parts to convert it for less than $100.

Now...about that triple...pics?  you should "share" it's story with the folks at www.supersportbike.org ...there's two fanatical 2-smoker fans there...

Curtis P

Well, here it is, It has custom paint (its actually a light metal flake, but you cant really see it)

No, that oil underneath it is not from it, i took these pics when it was snowing out so they were the best shots i could get of it

heres what i started with

After scroungin through the yard at my work, i found a front fender, tank and tail pecice all in mint shape, i had them painted by a buddy, and then i looked on ebay for everything else.

It turned out not bad, it runs really good and it sounds wicked, its a shame i cant drive it in my subdivision though

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

f%$k the neighbors...they have no taste in fine machinery...

Curtis P

yea, but 2 of those neighbours are cops, and i just moved in there, so i need to make some sort of good impression, they already hate my truck because i got offroadin in it, then i go up the road and drop all the mud on the road and it dries up and keeps the road from ever getting clean.

I dont know how they ever let a redneck like me into the city...

hey man you want to scavenge around that salvage yard and see if you can find me a CB900 (early 80's) gas tank and seat?

I'm also hunting down a VTR1000 tail, seats and subframe...

budget speed demon

why not just low shift the two stroke when you're getting close to home? I used to do that all the time when I had my 75' cb400f with straight pipes.
Stealth GS parts include;carbon fiber headlight faring, chin spoiler,V&H full system,NHK steeringdamper, titan solo racetail,cbrF2 carbon fiber chainguard, proformance forksprings with emulators,SS front brake line, gsxr remote reservoir rear shock, pirelli sport demons,79mm pistons(555cc)-more to come

makenzie71

likely because he'd like to keep the bike running...lol.  2-strokes with open pipes are not quiet...ever...especially if there's more than one cylinder.

I'll take your word for it. I don't know anything about two strokes

This thing is not quiet, when givin her hard throttle, you think your ears are going to bleed, but, its a good loud, lol

Mackenzie, you mentioned I could convert it to a "E" fro about 100 bucks, what exactly does that include, and what is the difference between E and F ??

Thanks,

E=naked.

You need a new headlamp, front turn signals and mirrors. I think that's about it. Instrument cluster, maybe (depending on damage).

Hm. Instruments... somewhere along the line to the F the tach was changed from mechanical to electronic input, so using an older cluster may not work.

Have you checked the condition of the fork? That may be expensive to fix if bent.

Curtis P

Frame and forks are straight as arrows, I bought the bike today, it came with new handle bars and a speedo (only needs a speedo to pass safety, tach is electronic so i aint going to bother) and they are doing a complete check over for me, I got it all for 1900 bucks canadain and its a 2005, so i was pretty happy.

I dont get it until next week, that will give me time to get my mirrors, headlight and headlight ears on and 2 turn signals.

I will try and get pictures up when I can, the camera is in for service, i broke the meomary card inside of it when putting it back in (DOH!)

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

^I was going to make that joke but opted against it...

Hmm... discretion is the better part of... something, I don't remember, but it was good. So good!  My roommate is Canadian, so I get to rip on him sometimes. Not too much though, he's 6'6" 300lbs... I'm 5'3 135lbs
