does anyone whut the problem could be ?

if its a brand new bike, your brakes may just be bedding themselves in... on the other hand, my new 05 doesn't have a squeel 

how many miles are on it?  if you just got the bike i would wait a few hundred miles for the brakes to bed in before you worry about it

Standard GS behavior, just like the long warmup time, top-end noise, and washy suspension. I'm more concerned about how LimaXray's DOESN'T squeak.

I'm kidding. But no worries, just don't use the rear a whole lot.

The GS is so damn quiet, I enjoy the fact that it squeels...   There's that saying.. "drive a motorcycle as if you were invisible and assume everyone can't see you..." well, they sure can't hear you on the stock GS!

hmm... maybe my head is just stuck too far up my ass to notice a squeak... or maybe I just haven't riden it enough

Not to threadjack, but I think we've handled his question to his satisfaction, and I've meant to ask you this, so here goes:

In your sig, you mention an updated cam (or something). You have an '05. What's that all about? Was it pertaining to the top-end knock?

the squel should go away . mine did from time to time some times reall bad .. i bout it in nov. of 05 its now april i have 7k miles on it and its no longer squels

Suzuki issued an update, not a recall, to fix an issue with the original cam.  From what I've been told it sounds like it made some sort of knock.  Appearntly other people haven't had serious problems with the old cam other than the knock, so I don't know if its really needed.   I would call up the dealer and ask if it applies to your bike.  Some dealers have reportedly denied it, so make sure they actually look up your vin and don't just jerk you around.   

The dealer wouldn't release the bike to me until they fixed it, so I never rode it without the new cam and don't know first hand what it fixed.  I can say I don't hear any strange engine noises.

You may be using your rear brake to heavily...  Find an empty parking lot and try using just the front brake.  Then just the rear brake...

When I heavily favor the rear brake, I get very loud squeals from it.

Beep beep, back the truck up. You have a 2005? So do I. I'm thinking I should talk to the stealer about this. I took it in a year ago and they just took a brief listen and said it was typical. But after what you said, I'm thinking I should look into it further. I knock, and it bugs the hell out of me. At times I can feel it in the heel of my right foot. Yeah, it sucks.

yea . that sounds about right with the brakes .. as far as the recall update what ever you want to call it on the cams . you can take it to the dealer give them your vin they can look it up and see if it has the vin . they may  tell you it dont . but if it really dose . they will send out a letter to the owner of the bike letting them know it has that recall . i work at automax ford here in texas . and thats normaly what happens . but when there is a recall . when you take it in for service or what not . when they put the vin in it will show them right then and there if it has a recall on it.

mine squeals like a pig. bought it new and had it for 10 months now. the sweet melody never went away. I'm waiting for my last warranty month to get that fixed for free 

My 04 has done it from new. I don't really use the rear brake unless I have to pull up in a hurry and use a combination of both. I have found that the noise will go away the more I use the rear brake and get some heat into it.

Yeah mine still squeals also. It went away for a while but it is back. I have an 05 with about 5200 miles on it. I have noticed that it has two pitches of squeal, a really high and then a lower more distinct one.

The other day I was rubbing my finger nail across the front rotor and noticed it was very smooth. Good.  BUT when I did it with the rear brake rotor, I noticed there was alot of grooves and cuts not like the front. What the HECK?!

I remember previous posts about this and people mentioned putting some goop or spraying something behind the pad. But I think I am going to pick up some break cleaner like nick_villan and pray that works. I am getting tired of this squeal!!

My bike hasn't been back to the stealership since I bought it. Sooooo, no flagging in the computer yet. After I do the valves I'll take it in. I'd do it now, but I can already foresee them saying something about the valves not being done, so I need to do that first.

My rear brake squeels alittle too.

To the people who've upgraded their brake pads, does that remove the squeel?

My 05' with 650 miles squills too, put brake cleaner on it but no avail. with the engine knock too I have a rolling two piece band!!

but you see its an 'update' not a recall, the differance is it's suzuki being nice and not being required to give you the new cam.  They have to notify about recalls by law, but not about updates.

Checking the valves may be part of doing the cam, I'd bring it to them first, and if they tell you the valves need to be done for an extra fee, tell them you'll do it yourself and you only want the cam
