Hi

I have a problem with my 4 control lights on the dash. (oil, N, turn, beam) None of them seem to light up.
I changed bulb in the neutral light, worked, and the day after all 4 are out. Bulbs are okay. :)

Everything else works great on the bike.

Which connectors shall I look after? What else can cause this?

Do the gauges light up?  I don't think all 4 lights share a common ground, so the only thing I can see is the wire harness has become disconnected.  If the gauges are out too, this is most like what the cause is.  Check all the wire connections up front and make sure they connected properly.  If they are all connected, disconnect them and make sure there is no corrosion or damage, clean and fix as needed, then put back together.

This is correct. There is no common ground or "earth" for our EU friends.

Quote, so the only thing I can see is the wire harness has become disconnected.

I agree. Of course your Oil light should never come on unless you are low on oil. The Neutral, Bright(Passing), and Turn lamps should work. If your GS is pre-03, your connections are all in the headlight bucket. The blue 9-pin connection interfaces the instrument lighting and the feedback lighting to the wiring harness.

It is visible in the following thumbnail (click to see full size)

Per LX's advice, check this connection. You will have to remove the headlight to gain access to the harness IF you have a round headlight version.

For the full body version, the connection is located nearby, but not behind the headlight.

Has anyone modified this GS with LED or other aftermarket electrics?

God save us from LED turn signal mods!

Thanks for the answers.
I have the round headlight version, 1990 model GS500E. I checked one connection in the headlight, but not the blue one.

Last time I had a bad connection at the battery's negative terminal, a little black connector. That made my bike stop in traffic. :)

By the way, the oil lamp should be on when the engine is not running. At least it used to be that way. :)
