Hi All,
Well my bike had a new battery put it in last year when I bought it.  It sat for the winter and now it won't start.  I jumped it and rode it for about 30-40 minutes on the freeway (thinking that would charge the battery) and when I got home, I shut off the bike and it still wouldn't start up.  So I went and got a charger and hooked it up to the battery and the charger read it as full.  I let it charge for about 24 hours anyway and tried to start it... it still wouldn't charge.
So what is up with this?  It will start when I jump it, but it won't start with the battery fully charged?  Any ideas?

have you checked the battery fluid?

The bike won't charge a completely dead battery, no matter how long you ride it. My $.02 is spend the $30 or so on a new battery and try it. If it works, your old battery is toast, the bike now runs, problem solved. If it still doesn't work, you return the battery, get your $30 back, and diagnose your real problem.

That's mean starter button is not effective.

check the following item:

1. battery run down
2. defective switch contects
3. brushes not seating properly on commutator in
   starter motor
4. defective starter relay

Motorcycle and car batteries don't like to sit for months on end without being used. This leads to sulfatisation (dunno if it's the correct term freely translating from German) of the lead plates. This makes them inert and unwilling to take a charge.

If a few cycles of attempted starts and re-chargings don't revive the battery, replace it.

One question: Does the battery crank the starter, just not fast enough for her to start up?

No, the battery does not crank the starter.

your battery is shot... Markus is right, you have to keep the battery charged or it will go bad... get a new battery and charge it for 10 hours at 1A

Just get it. Ships dry so you need to go to a auto parts store and have them put electrolytes in it. Sometimes they'll do it for free. You can't beat the price. Been using one for over a year now.
