Most (but not all) security systems wont put any dent what so ever on your insurance. Check out the Scorpio alarm I have listed in my signature, though.

really .. on a bike .... an alarm is point less ... it would be like ..............chaining your bike to the dirt .. its only gonna keep an honest person honest .. if they really want it they will get it ... regardless if it gose waaaaa waaaaa waaaa beeep beeep beeep .. two guys . 30 sec's its gone .. whos to say or see any thing ? cuz its not really gonna matter if the ding break bend any thing up .. they just got away with a free bike .. whats 100 bucks here or 10 bucks there ? or hell if they really wanted to .. just part it out .... i mean .. if it helps  you sleep at night then go for it .. but i'm not gonna waste my money on one .. i'd rather do mods to it .. cuz if someone really wants it . there gonna take it .. or over here in the U.S.A thats how it gose ... few snips here or there and theres nothing to worry about ..i dont care where you put the whires or the box or any thing .. if the thef is a pro and knows what hes doing .. thats just a small hurdel he has to jump

I have a GORILLA motorcycle alarm with remote from ebay for $85 or so. I installed it myself pretty easily and it works good. Loud enough and you can set different tones and sensitivities. I usually park mine in the garage so not worried about getting stolen but I got the alarm mainly to keep those kids away from messing around with my bike when it's parked outside at work. Kids think it's fun to get on bikes and messing around. little bastards.

The Gorilla and Scorpio basic alarms are pretty much the same thing. Either is better than nothing. The Xena alarm disc locks are pretty nice also.

BC?
check the link out. Dunno about installation costs, I guess a auto-electrician could fit one in a hour or so.

I agree that the best option is to have your bike stored someplace secure. However, you've got to leave it out sometime ....

I've been thinking about a GORILLA system myself.

my 2 cents ... :thumb:
Bet you can't drink a whole gallon of milk in one hour!

Whenever I decide to pick up the GSX-R600 or CBR600RR, the very first thing I'm doing is installing LoJack, the Scorpio SR-i500 alarm, and a Xena disc lock before any other purchases. The LoJack was the only thing that lowered my insurance when I installed it on all of my cars. :thumb:

Have they perfected/released lojack for bikes yet? Last time I talked to a LoJack rep (he happened to be in my store buying an mp3 player), he said that lojack for bikes was only available in select areas, and was prohibitively expensive. But that was about 5 months ago. Hopefully it's up and running now.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.
