So I'm on temporary assignment in Singapore.

1.  I'm missing out on the start of riding season for 3 months now.  poo.

2.  But MAN it's warm, It';s great.

So, does anyone have any advice and suggestions for things to do while I'm here?  I'm pretty sure that the excitement of just being at the Pan Pacific hotel will wear of shortly.

I do have to say, it's kinda hard not seeing all the people I'm used to seeing on a daily basis.  Long distance bill from hell, here I come!!

I went there when i was in the navy acouple of times. I was impressed on how expensive beer was there and how cheap electronics were. I got so use to haggling with people on prices it was hard to buy something for full price when i got back to the states. :thumb:

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof, is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools....

It's not 'Eh?' at the end of a sentence, it's 'Lah!' ;)

I liked the Orchid Gardens, The Night Zoo. Sentosa is a no-brainer (pretty touristy spot, though.)

Yup, but since things like spitting on the ground or even owning chewing gum are illegal there... (ok, I've heard that the latter has been loosened somehow.)

I still have a T-shirt saying "Singapore is a FINE city", listing fines for some ridiculous offenses.

No prostitutes -some are actually boys dressed as girls and diseases are rampant.  Seriously, our service man used to always say that going to a hooker over there is cheap, but like spinning a roulette wheel.  Despite the cheap price he never wanted to risk permanant disease or death for a good time.

Otherwise, just try to have fun and soak up the culture.

Oh! And go have a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel.

Again, makes you feel touristy, but at the same time very colonial.

:dunno_white: Find a "massage parlor"  :icon_mrgreen:

Yeah, there has got to be one of those tug and rub massage parlors over there.   Make sure you test the product though.  You could be assigned the wrong gender.

Edit:  Oohhhhh! I forgot!  You need to get cained for something.  They take this bamboo cain to the back of your legs to punish you.  That would be a story to tell your grandkids.

They make those knock off bags over there that look real and are made of real leather and everything.  $50 Prada for Pandy.

The gold craftmanship is exceptional, but expensive (you're paying for the craftmanship).

And, they have very nice men's shoes.

See the castle (touristy), and get some Dragonhair candy.  Good stuff! :thumb:

Yeah definitely be very careful with the laws in Singapore, especially if you dont have much experience in living in a foreign country.

Always remind yourself that your common sense is not even 'common' in your own country, let alone in a foreign country......

Never assume, always ask when in doubt......
