Hey guys, ive been looking hard and doing my homework for the last couple of years and i think im about ready to take the plunge...or payments. Anyway a dealership near me has a 2005 gs500f with just over 3K on it for $4300. I checked KBB and they list it as $3800. How much do you think they are overpricing this bike. It has supposedly never been down and there are no dings or anything. How should i try to haggle them or how much should i try to talk them down? Thanks for any input!

Welcome!

It would only be my opinion, $500 over bluebook is a bit much.  $3900 then add tax and licence...or $4100 out the door, whichever is less.  Again, this is only my opinion.

Unfortunately a lot of dealerships see it as their job to get as much money out of you as possible... that's why they're asking $4300, and why  you have to watch out for hidden charges.  So you've got the right idea lowballing them a little to see how much you can get it down to.  Like you said, you always have the option to walk away.  And sometimes walking away is a great negotiating strategy if they really want to get rid of it... they might run after you or call you back later.  The sad part though, is that if the dealer waits long enough they can probably get someone to pay full asking price.

Someone told me once that if they dont laugh at your first offer then your first offer was too high.    Always lowball them at first!

+1!

Don't worry about pissing the salesperson off. It's their job to make as much off of you as possible. It's highly unlikely you'll hurt his (or her) feelings! :thumb:

And welcome to the board!
