Summer riding gear???

Sorry for starting a post that has been covered before, but there is bits of information everywhere about what is best and I wanted to get specific details.

I am looking for a pair of gloves, a jacket and over pants (that I can wear shorts under, and take off after I arrive at Uni). I live in Brisbane Australia, and it is very tropical (steamy and humid) and HOT here in summer so the gear needs to be super cool.

Can people suggest some good gear for the super hot days?! I want to get it all organised before summer rolls around here again!  :x

THANKS!

Heh, IT IS SUMMER!! (in the northern hemisphere, you Austraillians just have to be backwards) j/k

I have the Joe Rocket meteor 3.0 jacket and live in Florida where its also hot and steamy, and with all the vents open and the liner removed its quite comfortable, (besides at stoplights)

I have the Joe Rocket mesh gear and am happy with it. I have a Reactor Jacket and Phoenix pants. I usually wear a t-shirt and shorts under them and stay cool at speed.  They both have armor and the jacket has leather on the arms and shoulders.

The only problem might be where to put them while walking around. Being padded and armored they don't exactly fold up to nothing.

Our tempuratures range in the 90-100F (32-38C) with 80-90% relative humidity in the summer here.

Yeah the upside down under!

I should clarify, I have all the gear I need for winter, so I don't want a  jacket, gloves or pants that is good for winter AND summer - just summer!

Cheers

I currently have a Joe Rocket mesh jacket (v2.0 of some line)... very good top for summer riding. When it gets a little chilly in the evenings and such, I usually put on a sweatshirt underneath or a windbreaker (on top or under depending on how I feel).

As for pants... well... I'm just wearing jeans. Not sure if I want to dish out the dough for riding pants as yet... we'll see.

I have a Joe Rocket Phoenix Jacket and Pants but I think a vented setup might actually be better when on the move. The Reactor and other brand's equivilants give better protection without sacrificing signifigant cooling. If I was going to do it over I'd get a FirstGear Leather Mesh-Tex Jacket and mesh pants.

A little more money but I'm paranoid about getting hurt ;)

Phoenix! That's the one I've got too... just the jacket though. How do you find the mesh pants? Are they comfortable? What about the armour/protection?

Anyone else have a suggestion?

Thanks guys!  :thumb:

Gotta agree that a mesh jacket is the only way to fly.  It'll adsorb the initial impact but doesn't slide well.  But the initial hit is the worst for broken bones ect...   Gloves, I usually buy them local.  Leather with at least extra leather in the palm.  Get armoured gloves if you can stand them.
