I stripped my carbs to the bare body. One thing I noticed is that the seal that connects to the fuel line hose T is all cracked.
Does it mean I need to get a rebuilt kit? Do rebuild kits include that seal?

No, they don't.  They typically contain o-rings and float bowl seals.  You'll have to buy that as an OEM part.  bikebandit.com or mrcycles.com can help you out.

I found the part on mrcycles.com. Will be ordering few more things from them: feeler gauge, air filter.
However, I couldn't find carb rebuilt kit. Makes me wonder if I am not looking right or something.

kits are typically aftermarket.  You can get one at partsnmore.com.  The GS500E kit will work for 89-2000 models.  I don't know of one for 2001+.

just took apart another carb and found out that whoever put it together last time, pinched one side of the rubber diaphram of the piston under the top cover. It didn't develope a crack or hole of any kind though. Perhaps, was restricting the movement of the piston somewhat though. What would that do to the way bike runs?

Rubber has a bit of a deformation in its shape from being pinched, but seems to wanting to return to its origional shape after I released it. Can I continue using it, considering that it still appears to be leak-free?

ok, I double checked and I mis-read the auction the first time.  He's asking $38 + shipping for two kits.  PnMore charges $24 for two kits and free shipping.  It's not exactly double but still much higher.

It will be ok to use the diaphram with a crease as long as the outer edge seals and it has not holes.  It should not have affected the bike too much if it still had a seal. it would just restrict the the rise and fall of the needle jet, and probably not by much.

out of curiosity, what does needle jet do?
